Title: The HODL faucet challenge Post by: grau on September 26, 2014, 07:06:37 PM Today I announced on my Facebook feed that I send 10,000 bits to the first 10 Bitcoin address posted as reply.
I gave links to an Android and an iPhone wallet to support newcomer, it created at least 10 new Bitcoin users by pouring 0.1 BTC of my own. This is the HODL faucet challenge I now pass on to all of my fellow HODL-ers! It will feel like ice water for you, but it will spread the word and create thousands of new Bitcoin converts, we need badly. We don't need anything but patience, but I respect what you're doing. Redistributing bitcoin wealth to be more equal is a good thing for everyone, since this is the future of money.Title: Re: The HODL faucet challenge Post by: dontCAREhair on September 27, 2014, 03:36:29 AM I don't see how this would get more people to start using bitcoin. It is essentially getting people to post on your comment/thread for them to get "free money". I would argue that the only reason they would comment would be to get however many cents worth of bitcoin from you, and likely already uses bitcoin (or at least potentially does)

Several of them commented on how quickly it arrive and how real it suddenly became to them compared to just reading about it in media. A major part, or even the majority of, Bitcoin's utility is the fact that you can save in it without having your savings confiscated by a third party or devalued by arbitrarily large amount of new issuances.Smear campaigns against savers are underhanded tactics employed by people who want to obtain Bitcoins at lower prices. Save your wisdom for where it matters. This is a harmless idea to promote Bitcoin using pocket change. Feel free to ignore it if you think it is ineffective.
