Trying to follow KYC requirements I see ($1000 or less per person per day otherwise must validate ID cause of KYC laws). Good for you.

That's false. Contrary to the belief of many Americans, United States law does not apply outside of the United States.

I am required to follow Australian law, where the threshold reporting amount is $10,000 as per AUSTRAC guidelines (http://austrac.gov.au/chapter-7-amlctf-reporting-obligations) and my obligations under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act Cth 2006.

I am imposing a $1000 limit to manage risk.

Be nice if the laws of Australia applied here. Seems like everything is "Down and Easy" in the aussie.

Down and easy? Come here and you'll be running to go back. I live in NSW, potentially the biggest nanny state in the world.

Surprisingly the U.S. banking system is pretty broken, when you compare what our banks can do (in terms of technology) and the cost (most accounts are free).

Found out today that I can pick up Moneygram payments and not have to show any ID. So essentially a terrorist could receive hundreds of $999 payments under different names and not raise any flags. Sad.
