Title: Antminer s3 - 5 of them - need input Post by: jklopiloppi on October 01, 2014, 11:19:25 PM My farm will consist of 5x S3's.
What is your opinion of this? At around $0.11/kw/hr Title: Re: Antminer s3 - 5 of them - need input Post by: xstr8guy on October 01, 2014, 11:33:37 PM My farm will consist of 5x S3's. What is your opinion of this? At around $0.11/kw/hr Welcome to break even! :D I'm in a similar situation and pay the same price for electricity and now I'm doing just a little better than break-even after I pay the electric bill. Granted, of my 10THs only about 3THs is at the same efficiency as the S3, .7w/GHs. The other 7GHs is ~1w/GHs. So you may have 2-3 average difficulty adjustments (a month or two) before you are officially spending more money on electricity than you can earn from mining. At around $0.11/kw/hr Might pay a tab more in power, other wise go for it it should pay you back in a few month's depending on how much the set up will cost you price per coin etc . . I have two S3 and 3 S1 gonna add two more S3 and replace the S1 in time then let it do it do its thing but my power is only .919 per kw i don't see a jump in power yet and may not till I add the last two. some may even try to tell you i pay more in power then i claim but if you want proof i will give to you . just won't post it here. as he said go with it but be ready to replace those s 3 at that time frame . or add one 2 tH miner and go for there . This might help you some http://dustcoin.com/ Title: Re: Antminer s3 - 5 of them - need input Post by: jklopiloppi on October 02, 2014, 06:41:44 PM My farm will consist of 5x S3's. So my total power is going to be 5.4 TH/s +- Total power consumption will be 5,900 Wats What are some thoughts? Still looking at $0.11 per hour if not more / less. Still breaking even? Title: Re: Antminer s3 - 5 of them - need input Post by: xstr8guy on October 02, 2014, 08:22:11 PM I'm not exactly sure what the Terraminer's efficiency is but I'm quite sure it's a lot worse than the S3... well over 1w/GHs vs .7W/GHs.

Could have gotten a better machine for the price Title: Re: Antminer s3 - 5 of them - need input Post by: philipma1957 on October 03, 2014, 10:50:37 AM Yea it is :( Damn mistake on this purchase. Could have gotten a better machine for the price yeah you fucked up. but most of us have done a few bad deals at this game. I purchased a short tube from am. it was not a good purchase on paper , but i scored like a mofo with it. read what I did with a pair of tubes. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=790451. my point is you could use one of these two pools and get lucky making the poor purchase a good one. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=559011.0 this is a small pool about 60-80 th it makes 1 block a month. so if you start on it today and it make the block in 10 days not a month you could make up for the poor purchase choice. this is what happened to me. In fact I hit 3 fast blocks and those 'short' tubes made me about 2.5 -2.7 coins profit. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=763510.0 this is a solo pool winner take all pool this is much harder to hit, but it could bail you out. |
