I Agree. IMHO it seems a low-cost solution with little political drawback. US forces have been there since the end of the 90s conducting cooperative training with local forces there. I suppose this TF to end up like a West Africa Training Cruise exercise (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/watc.htm). WATC included medical professionals from the U.S. Navy's Medical Department. US Army provided support to civil authorities in Southeast Asia, Japan, Philippines before United Assistance - Ebola Relief supporting West Africa civil authorities as directed by DOD & President Obama.

I think they have a hard job ahead. Apparently it's chaos on the ground. All these NGOs working in an uncoordinated way. I don't see how they are going to take command. For example, what about the Chinese troops that have been sent there? Are U.S. officers going to be giving orders to Chinese soldiers? I doubt it.
Sadly this is looking like a megadeath situation.  :'(

Yet they're bringing more of these cases back to the mainland which makes no sense. They should just keep these patients quarantined back where they belong and treat the situations there. Lots of anxiety going on in the Dallas area as a result of this.

Hospitals in the US are much better equipped to handle these situations then health care facilities in east Africa. Doctors and Nurses are better trained and have more resources to deal with an ebola patient.

I would think the chances of a health care worker getting infected is much lower here

America is sending soldiers, because those are uneducated blacks and hispanics, who will be in need of state in future, so no loss when they die. They wont be sending hundreds of doctors like Cuba. America has a nice long tradition of rich people sending poor to death.  ;)
