Title: Power Supply for Bitmain AntMiner S3+ Post by: Mick2000 on October 02, 2014, 07:35:36 PM Hi,
I am struggling to find a power supply that will power both sides of the S3+. I have tried a pus with 1 PCI-e and adapted 2 Molex connectors with an adaptor. - fail. Have bought a 750w pus with 2 PCI-e (one of the connections seems to be a slave of the other iE on the same link to the pus. Pus stops after boot up. I just want to get this ip and running and hashing at more than the current half of its potential. Some advice, recommendations would be much appreciated. Title: Re: Power Supply for Bitmain AntMiner S3+ Post by: sushi on October 02, 2014, 07:58:18 PM If you have 8-pin PCI-E, please take a clooser look as the 2-pins may be able to separate..
If not, you can use the 8-pin to 6-pin adoptor but the main thing is to make sure each PCI-E plug comes from its own rail. Not split off of the 1 rail. Would an 8pin PCI-e to 6 pin adapter work? If you truly have a 8 pin only PCI-E connector on the power supply, that means it can handle a 8 pin PCI-E to DUAL 6 pin PCI-E adapter if you wanted to because a 8 pin PCI-E connection is rated at much higher (twice?) wattage than the single 6 pin PCI-E connection (probably good if you want to overclock a single rail with single connection, but don't think it's enough to connect both separate rails). http://www.amazon.com/PCI-Express-Video-Y-Splitter-Adapter-Supply/dp/B00A3OVG4W Title: Re: Power Supply for Bitmain AntMiner S3+ Post by: Mick2000 on October 07, 2014, 01:08:08 PM Okay so the saga continues lol. I got the 8 pin to 6 pin adapter and the psu would not power at all. Hmm. took a closer look at the 8 pin on the psu and yes I should have looked closer originally. It is 2 4 pin not straight 8. I take it that would be my problem.
Could I jut cut the wires and attache a 6 pin to 3 of the pos and 3 of the neg? Or am I now looking at a new PSU? Is this one worth investing in? Sorry to be a pain, but just want this miner up and running. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Builder-Series-Bronze-Supply/dp/B009RMP2VE/ref=dp_return_2?ie=UTF8&n=340831031&s=computers Ta muchly, Mick Title: Re: Power Supply for Bitmain AntMiner S3+ Post by: Mick2000 on October 07, 2014, 04:07:05 PM Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me. Just to confirm, by 1 unit, you mean both sides of 1 S3+? I just want to make sure I get the right one this time. It has been a disaster up until now. If that is the case, that is fine as I only have 1 antminer currently. Regards Mick |
