Title: Twitter & Facebook for the Future of Bitcoin
Post by: Bitcoin-hotep on October 03, 2014, 09:37:18 PM
I know most people have noticed this already, but some people may not have yet. Bitcoin is News Driven.

If no one is talking about Bitcoin in the news, no one buys Bitcoins. If no new companies start accepting Bitcoins, no one buys bitcoin.

So if everyone on this forum goes out and posts 1 tweet, or 1 facebook group post, or 1 instagram post, or 1 random post in a populated area in an MMORPG about Bitcoin... Then Bitcoin will start to gain value.

I know everyone likes to think we are "watching" the value of Bitcoin going up and down, but we ARE the value of Bitcoin going up and down.

We have to push it or it will just die.

I have some twitter bots, 150 accounts with a total of 200,000 followers.

If i start talking about bitcoin in twitter with my bots, the price will go up?

Probably. Just make sure to make it where they can get to the coins, try posting some threads from this website or wallet sites or something, so that they get right into it.

finshaggy, instead of worrying about your personal profits..... think about getting proper infrastructure to grow bitcoin. then bitcoin will grow.

and im not talking about your utopian dreams and money grabs of multimillion dollar dreams, but actual bitcoin useful stuff.

i know once you wipe away your weed filled dreams of getting rich quick, you probably could come up with an actual idea that is actually feasible, meaningful, and usable. advertising people to just hand money over is not the answer

Also, I have noticed in the past. If you get a BTC price watching app on your phone, like a line graph that has the price unde it, and you post pictures of it on Facebook or Twitter or whatever. People will want to get the app AND get some coins.

And show people the price that Bitcoin has been VS what it is now and tell them that it hasn't been this low in a while, so when it goes back up they will earn money.

What happened to Zynga accepting bitcoin, I heard they accepted it but did they added any bitcoin feature to any of their games on facebook like poker, farmville etc??

I love playing zynga poker on facebook, why can't they add an option to play using bitcoin? People play a lot on facebook on these Zynga games and I think it will help bitcoin in adoption.

Talk is BS, the price is a reflection of utility. As btc becomes ubiquitously useful, the price will reflect that
No short cuts available, it has to happen in the right and sustainable manner

Op has a point.
It's like using Facebook and twitter to sell your ideas, products or services and in this case, actually telling people about bitcoin. Crypto is about acceptance and adoption.

Yeah you could say infrastructure. But think of this... anything u can buy with bitcoin, can as well get it using fiat. Things u can buy using fiat, i may not necessarily can get it with crypto. So tell me why should exchange my fiat to bitcoin in order to buy stuff, when i can just directly use my fiat. Or a seller who get forced to set up a bitcoin payment gateway, because buyers only have bitcoin and no fiat on hand.

Acceptance is still the key and social networks can certainly help.

China has changed the price of Bitcoin basically at will. It is about News.

Don't forget to remind people that as the price goes down, Bitcoin is just getting more affordable.

This would work if we got celebrities to talk about it i.e Music stars, as music singers has lots of influence on people.

If we get stuff going, Joe Rogan will be like "Oh shit, I need to get Andreas or David on".

Everyone just start tweeting, facebooking and everything you can.

And here is a thread about O'Reilly, if we can get O'Reilly to say something good or bad about Bitcoin, it will then become fodder for political comedians across the board.

Those networks may spread the word about Bitcoin, but I really don't see how they could use Bitcoin. It is still too complicated for the common man, and they wouldn't want to risk losing their money to volatility or investment risks of Bitcoin. They don't mind a centralized solution!

I would agree that the more BTC becomes popular, more people might be interested and more businesses might be using it. Those things are good for BTC whether directly affecting the price or not.
