Title: Is there a watching only option for an Android Electrum wallet?
Post by: Whenupsee on October 06, 2014, 06:03:27 AM
Would like 2 android wallets. A spend wallet and a watch only wallet.  Is there a watch only andriod electrum wallet and if so can you load 2 wallets in sl4a?

Thanks.

I would stay away from the Android wallet at the moment.  There's even been mention of ceasing distro of it here.  (I just deleted it myself from my phone).

I don't believe there's a way to do it without hacking the python.

1. for watch only, tap "restore" and "scan QR seed"... then scan the QR shown with your "Master Public Key" and it will create a watch only wallet.

2. to switch wallets you will need a separate file manager app. Basically. 1. Kill Electrum and sl4a processes. 2. change wallet.dat to blahblahwallet.dat (or whatever... as long as you remember what file it is, I might keep the word wallet in there) and when you restart Electrum it will have you create a new wallet. 3. repeat 1 and 2 switching out the names so that wallet.dat is the wallet you want to open before your start Electrum.

WARNING: Electrum Android is unreliable. Use at your own risk.

Thanks.

Sounds like a fair load of risk taking the road most traveled let alone cutting your own. I might wait for a decent android electrum.

I hope they develop a spend and watch only option.

Thanks again.

I just installed the watch only wallet. No worries. All the receive address are the same, there is no seed or password stored and an error 25 message is given if you try to send coins.
