I would be surprised if any large mining farm is using solar energy.  Miners need to run 24 by 7 and solar is not suitable for continuous power.

It may be more useful to look for large mining farms using Geothermal or Hydro power.  Geothermal is why Iceland has large mining farms.  Hydro is why parts of Sweden and Washington state have cheap power.

hey i dont think they run 100% solar but at least partially. still thanx for heads up - interesting.
im just collectign questions to ask tchem!

Here are 3 questions, I would like you to ask them:

What saving have they gained from switching partially to Solar? What percentage?

How long before they reach ROI on the hardware bought for the Solar implementation?

What new challenges do they face, with the Solar solution, that they did not have previously?

When, will we see the interview? or Article?

Is the Solar a supplement to the normal power or are they running 100% off of solar?  Do they have a battery bank?

Have they run the calculations as to how summer vs. winter daylight hours will affect their solar array's performance?

Do they have room to expand the solar array, to accommodate the required additions of GH/s... to offset difficulty increases?

Request some images of the setup.
If video of building these setup is available get it for us.
Ask them the % they ROI more, than if use Grid.

My questions:

Solar panels have a certain life period, did they calculate the maintenance costs and how big will they be?
Same thing with batteries, they deteriorate over time and need to be replaced.
The panels need a large area, is the cost of the whole thing worth it? You have to purchase more land, buy and set the panels, maintain them (dirty panels have lower efficiency) buy all the electronics like inverters, batteries.
The panels are fragile and could be easily sabotaged, aren't they afraid of vandalism?
How many people will they need to employ to maintain the facility? Will it be more because of the panels?

Very valid questions and looking to see how they will be answering.
But when doing it professionally as a big business for farm, these can be easily tackled.

even if it didnt run 24/7 you would still be saving alot of energy/money.  Also for the general consumer you can sometimes get solar panels for nothing...companies will install them for you and the surplus energy goes back into the grid therefore saving the company money until you pay it off.

You mean hedging the difficulty? When price was somewhat proportional to the difficulty,
it was somewhat possible earlier by using Dollar-BTC currency heading somehow.
But now the price is not proportional to the difficulty and so hedging difficulty that way is not possible.

This means the interview is already over or yet to be conducted?
With whom you are conducting this interview?
If you can't disclose atleast tell us whether it's a big company or a personal farm?
Also mention an expected date range.

Ask him why he doesn't just buy from PB Mining.  It's easier.

Maybe because PB is completely annonymous, and don't disclose anything including their location, so maybe easier but also more risky ;)
