Title: Wireless Adapter to use with BaMT?
Post by: elrodvoss on May 12, 2012, 02:16:40 AM
Can anyone give me a suggestion and link of a wireless adapter that has been proven to work with BaMT?

I have seen a few on newegg and amazon that will work with linux, but I am unsure if they will work with BaMT.

Any help would be greatful.

I would prefer to use a wired connection, but due to power issues I have to have computer in separate rooms till I get a sub-panel installed.  So need wireless at least for the short term.

Thanks.

Thank you!  This is what im looking for.  I can find LINUX adapters very easily, but not all will work with BaMT.

So please, who has experience with wireless adapters and BaMT and can suggest one that is known to work with BaMT.

what works with linux, should work with BAMT, with specific adjustments, you want something that works by default maybe.

This one works for example (by default): Rosewill RNX-G1LX

Code:
#lsusb

Bus 001 Device 012: ID 0bda:8187 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8187 Wireless Adapter

Even if from different companies, ,most of them are based on the same Realtek chipsets, so when purchasing one maybe look for the chipset they have. (e.g. RTL8187)

This one should work also: Alfa AWUSO36H, as it is a clone of Rosewill RNX-G1LX, also you can find more clones based on device ID 0bda:8187.

If you really want a simple solution, look for Homeplug Powerline ethernet adapters. For around 30-40$ you can get a 2 adapter kit. Zero configurations, zero driver problems, better connection reliability than any kind of wifi.
