Title: Big problem with wallet Bitcoin-Qt
Post by: BitBitCoin on October 07, 2014, 09:08:59 AM
I open my wallet (Bitcoin-Qt v0.8.5-beta) and known immediately that the balance is 0 Instead I should have about 1.27 BTC.

The wallet is out of sync and I try to wait, but even when the wallet is synchronized, the balance remains at 0 but the thing that amazed me the most is that there is not even more transaction history and also the rubric (where I had saved 3 addresses) is empty.

Can someone help me, please?

Try to relocate you original wallet.dat file. I think you bitcoin-qt create brand new wallet for you! Have a look at the address in the bitcoin qt and check whether it is the same as you had before.

You have to figure out what happened to the original wallet.dat. What OS do you use? Did you have problems with your hdd? Do you have a backup of the file?

I solved the problem by loading an old file wallet.dat backupped.
I'm glad but I'd like to know what happened !! Why there was this problem?
I use Windows 8

I can only guess, but the behaviour you describe is what bitcoin-core does when it can not find a wallet.dat file, it just creates a new one. For Win8 this file would be in %APPDATA%/Bitcoin, where %APPDATA% [1] is a specific folder that is related to the useraccount. So most likely something happend to your userprofile that cause the file to corrupt and/or get deleted.

Glad to hear that the problem is solved - just quick question: Why you are using Bitcoin-Qt v0.8.5  instead of Bitcoin-Core 0.9.3?

Regards.

This version (v0.8.5 )has always worked well! What's wrong with this version?

Well...

I cannot say that "something" is wrong with v.0.8.5.

Well there was some Heartbleed bug on the way and others :)

Thing is that for some reason group of PRO programmers are coding hardly to develop another version of Qt/Core :)

For some reason they are doing that instead of using v.0.8.5 :)

They are removing small (and some major) bugs and changing Bitcoin Wallet to better app.

I think you should trust this group of Core Developers and follow their creation :) with using newest versions of Bitcoin Wallet.

As I told before -  there is a reason why they made another versions :) and it is not only commercial thing. It is just that Bitcoin is still in Beta phrase, and they are developing just better software (almost) every version.

That's all :)

Kind regards.
