Title: Will using only dummy plugs cause problems? Post by: humanage on May 13, 2012, 01:34:15 AM I have 2 5970s on my mining rig, one is using a monitor and one is using a dummy plug. If I removed the monitor, would anything happen? I want to use the monitor for another computer, but don't know what to do. Should I leave it, get a dummy plug, or just unplug the monitor?
Title: Re: Will using only dummy plugs cause problems? Post by: Cablez on May 13, 2012, 01:39:17 AM It depends on what driver version you are running and what OS.
For windows anything beyond 11.6 does not require dummy plugs at all so you would be fine. For Linux I don't believe that dummy plugs were ever needed. I will let someone more knowledgeable confirm that one. Title: Re: Will using only dummy plugs cause problems? Post by: humanage on May 13, 2012, 01:42:31 AM Thanks for the quick response! I'm on Windows 7 with 11.4. I might just switch to Linux as recently people have been reporting higher hashrates with it.
Edit: I just tried mining without the dummy plug, everything is well, time to try without the monitor. Title: Re: Will using only dummy plugs cause problems?
