the applause is really something, they dont do that for everybody and it shows that the senators were really, truly impressed. I'm not surprised, the man presents himself impeccably.

I have high hopes for Canada to be a leader with cryptocurrencies, even if we are maybe a tad slow to the party. The only problem is, our senators do not have that much power. the prime minister can veto anything they put forward. plus they are all appointed, not voted in, so they will naturally be in line with the prime minister's agenda, what ever that might be. There has been a lot of corruption come to light in our house recently and there is talk of reform to how it operates. developing.

He represented the community very well I'm very proud of him and Canada for acknowledging the need for crypto.

When he makes a good point (or points) it does not matter who his audience is (as long as they are smart enough to understand what he is saying) they will agree with him.

I have seen the video and believe that he did a very good job of delivery of his message.

His message is clear enough:

DO NOT REGULATE SOMETHING YOU DONT UNDERSTAND, QUI?

That was a game changer... imo Canada will reap the early rewards of development and opportunity.

This looks really promising. Andreas got to present his case as completely as anyone could have hoped.   The Senators don't "get it" (yet) but it's really a different landscape now than it was 3 years ago when I first got into Bitcoin, that's for sure! 

A five year regulatory review window should be just about right. That will give time for Bitcoin developers in Canada to self-regulate and build tools that are useful. It's good to see that America's Hat is still a Thinking Cap.

Thanks for sharing. He is such a great spokesman for Bitcoin. I love listening to him present Bitcoin concepts. Every answer rolls effortlessly off his tongue like he was breastfed Bitcoin as a child. What a difference a couple of years can be. I remember when everyone was overjoyed at having Bruce Wagner as the key spokesman for Bitcoin.

Andreas is simply awesome. The single most articulate and persuasive spokesperson that the crypto community has right now. Good on the canadian senate for giving him a forum.

Thanks just watching now, great job Andreas.  That was one hell of an introduction from the chair really surprised how well the senate understand the sentiment of the industry :)

Why is Canada always in the forefront of logic thinking in that part of the world.

I see so much FU regulations being implemented right across the USA and then Canada makes the right choice {In my view} when it comes to them regulating something.

Andreas is by far the most knowledgeable, articulate, and understandable speaker for Bitcoin I've ever seen.

I just watched this entire 2 hour video.

It is truly great.

You must watch this if you haven't.

Since the day i watched his first video in which he cried as he spoke about bitcoins i have a great respect for this man. He has really brought the real features and possibilities of bitcoin to the main stage for those that have a hard time seeing the bigger picture!

I find it amusing that his speech/talk has more positive effect for the community than everything Bitcoin Foundation (remember them? lol) has ever done.

Outstanding job by A.A ..one of his best, but also hats off to the Canadian politicians.  They seem very cool, open minded and receptive to Bitcoin!

I just watched it.  Andreas Antonopoulos was brilliant as usual.  I especially liked his answer to the GHash.io question.  I like that he didn't do what many other Bitcoiners do which is to imply that one pool could bring down the entire network.  He calmly explained that it was more of a perception problem than an actual technical problem. 

Perfect delivery. I can't think of a more appropriate, effective spokesperson. The only criticism I've heard of him was that he gets too much attention. Thank goodness, we could do much worse for a public figure.

andreas definitely done a great job. if anyone could do any better, i havnt seem them.

andreas has always been top of my list of public speakers that truly understands all the facets and functions of bitcoin.

He is one of the best front men that Bitcoin can have because he speaks so intelligently and articulately.   He knows how to disagree and make a point without sounding too ignorant or too anarchistic.

Canada seems way more open to the possibilities of Bitcoin, than Lawsky and his cronies...

What an excellent human being A A is.

Really, such intelligence, patience and application. Rare and valuable to our species.

It has to be the first time I see him sit down, whilst he talked about Bitcoin... My guess is they Super glued his shoes to the floor.  ;D

What I did like was the following:

1. He admitted that the bitcoin technology was still in a development phase, and it's not the final product, and might possibly not be for years, because it evolves with change.
2. He highlighted that the security problems are not with the bitcoin protocol, but with the companies interfacing with it. {Exchanges / Wallet providers etc}
3. He was honest with the pro's and the con's of using bitcoin, but he still encouraged the senate to focus on the pro's rather than the few con's.
4. He explained technical concepts in a way, that non-technical people could understand.
5. He gave practical examples to show what "good" regulations will do for Canada and where New York failed.
6. He did not use his ussual "extremist" approach, which in my view, is the only negative side, when you speak to more "moderate" public or the government.

So he was basically spot on, with what his objective was, and it worked.

What I enjoyed the most, was the humble and cool way, the Canadian senate discussed this. Things was said like "Shit Happens" and "I was told by younger people, to keep my old nose out of Bitcoin" and this
shows a government that understand it's role and are humble enough to admit, what they know and where they need help.

In my country, members of parliment drive fancy cars, only speak to the media when it's advantage their career and the normal public is seen as ignorant folk, who has to serve them. This is most certainly a very FRESH change, from what I am used too.

If it was not for the cold weather, I would emigrate to Canada.  ;)

Hey, government people all over the free world WANT Bitcoin. Bitcoin will give them a whole lot more freedom to operate covertly than fiat does, They simply don't know how to take down the banks and bankers without disrupting their respective governments, any more than the rest of the people do. It's expected they would cheer.

I wish the United States was as open forum as this Canadian forum.   The only thing that the United States cares about is taxation, and money laundering.   If they could charge a tax on money laundering, they wouldn't care about the laundering anymore either...

If you have seen his previous videos then you'll come to know. He wasn't able to kick ass there. He skipped some question, and didn't came up with appropriate warrant.

Plus, he was way too technical and repeated same thing again and again and again.

I actually followed the video from start until the end which i rarely do for youtube videos. And i can say the strong words will surely help to promote bitcoin. Good work!

The more he speaks, the better for Bitcoin and the entire ecosystem.

He needs to give a technical explanation in order to appropriately answer questions being asked of him.

It was a nice "Hey I'm done writing my book now, I'm back" sort of thing.  The crypto community thought he threw in the towel or something.  I was so happy he was speaking over literally ANYONE else in this community that has been outspoken thus far.  There are very few names in this space that don't come off as a little cooky, and I think its because you had to be a little weird to get into this early....

Canada should recognize bitcoin as a "unit of account" as did Germany. This would help legitimizing it.
