I am using the linux version on Centos 6 It had 8 connections to the bitcoin network but no blocks downloading. It started working when I manually told it to connect to another nodes ./bitcoin-qt -addnode=91.210.181.21 I think there is a bug in there somewhere. Error? You mean the warning saying that it hasn't finished catching up? So, step 1. Make sure you are on version 0.6.2. Step 2. The blockchain is large ... 2 GB. Check disk space to ensure you aren't running out of space. Step 3. How many connections? Hover over the "ascending bars" in the bottom right of the client. It will tell you how many connections you have.
