Title: Question regarding anonymity Post by: wefwejkhfjekwhfjkewf on May 15, 2012, 04:01:08 PM OK, I'm very new to Bitcoin.
Let's say I went on a website where you pay real money ($ USD for example) for Bitcoins, and it gets paid into a Bitcoin wallet provided by that site. OK... so, obviously, if I bought something with that wallet, that could be traced to me, because I paid for it with a bank account, or PayPal account. But let's say I set up a new wallet on, say, InstaWallet.... and paid the money into that account, and then perhaps even some more wallets from there, and then paid for the item with the final wallet. Of course, I would be using Tor with my browser, as I transferred between various accounts. The question is... could that then be traced back to the original wallet, or not? Title: Re: Question regarding anonymity Post by: Stephen Gornick on May 15, 2012, 11:28:12 PM There most likely wouldn't be a direct link unless Instawallet happened to choose the same coin for your spend transaction as what you deposited. e..g., a deposit of 12.3456 BTC and then a spend of 12.3456 (or an amount in roughly the same range) a day later for instance, could possibly cause the same coin to be used.
If greater privacy is needed, use a combination fo wallets perhaps, in effect mix your self. Or use a mixing service. - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mixing_service Title: Re: Question regarding anonymity Post by: wefwejkhfjekwhfjkewf on May 16, 2012, 01:58:32 AM OK, Mixing. Great. That's exactly what I was looking for. I want to be super sure that this is anonymous.
Thank you. Is there any of the 3 mixing services listed in your link, that you would recommend over another. There is: (1) Bitcoin Fog (2) Bitcoin Laundry (3) BitLaundry |
