Title: Bitcoin transmission in limbo Post by: envision on May 17, 2012, 02:28:45 AM How can I get my bitcoin back to an offline wallet? I used the Bitcoin client to receive coins that I had been paid, but then communication with the server to synchronize the blocks stopped, and the program crashed and can't be reinstalled. What do I do? I've been trying to import my wallet into another offline program so that I can claim the funds, but I can't find any.

Create a backup of your existing wallet.dat That wallet.dat can be used on any computer to recover. If you want to try getting that specific installation back to being operational, remove all data files except for wallet.dat and then launch Bitcoin again. - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory#Default_Location - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory#Files Title: Re: Bitcoin transmission in limbo Post by: envision on May 17, 2012, 04:21:51 AM Thank you for your help. Damn hidden files >:(
I reinstalled it on another computer and replaced the wallet.dat with the backup. It seems to be working fine so far. Is that good or no? I had no idea it would take so long to download. I'm tired, that's why I seem extra noobish. My fault for running it in Windows. Hope it solves your problem! Title: Re: Bitcoin transmission in limbo Post by: envision on May 18, 2012, 06:47:30 AM Everything worked out. The block synchronization froze about 75% of the way through, so I downloaded one myself, used rescan, and prayed :)
