Title: I need a Bitcoin-savvy attorney quickly
Post by: thework on October 12, 2014, 08:53:33 PM
A friend of mine has been arrested in CO for "money laundering" and "operating an unauthorized money transfer service" related to Bitcoin.

I need a referral to an attorney who understands the relevant law, and who could appear in Denver court soon.

Thanks in advance.

It is actually against attorney's ethical rules to advertise for their services in this manner. Attorneys are generally not able to approach potential clients like this, but rather need to have a client either be referred to them by someone else or have the client approach them.

Even if your 'request' is seen by an attorney who is qualified I don't think he will respond.

With that being said I think your request is likely FUD.

a) I posted this in Legal, not Marketplace... so it was moved here

b) I'm soliciting an attorney, which is different than an attorney advertising

c) I actually asked for just what you said: a referal to an attorney

d) FWIW, attorneys are allowed to advertise. They can't troll for work or approach people to solicit them (there's some debate, state by state, about this).
