Title: googles response to apple pay Post by: hector3115 on October 12, 2014, 10:03:17 PM Maybe google strikes back at apple pay with a killer google bitcoin wallet. Google could get tons of merchants on board and bitcoin could be off to the races.
Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: BitCoinNutJob on October 12, 2014, 10:09:08 PM Wouldnt worry about apple pay as competitor to bitcoin they could incorporate bitcoin in the future, they have connections with paypal so looks bright. Doubt it, apple wants profits all to themselves Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: hector3115 on October 13, 2014, 12:15:02 AM I bet Google could definitely design the killer app and also could put tons of money into marketing.
Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: fa on October 13, 2014, 12:23:32 AM Right. I dont think google wants to embrace Apple Pay yet.
Also, Apple pay is not currency. Plus its not decentralized. So, not a threat to btc. Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: Rub3n on October 13, 2014, 12:31:13 AM I dont think google is gonna use BTC in any projects honestly.

I agree with fa; it doesnt matter how many sugar on top Google puts; its still a fial payment system. Monitored 100% of the time. No thanks. I still think BTC is going to need all the help in order to not to be repelled by the big players. Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: Swordsoffreedom on October 13, 2014, 04:46:49 AM Both have the flaw of centralized reporting
People within their phone systems will consider using it but outside of it people will likely try turning to other ways of trading. Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: bornil267645 on October 13, 2014, 10:55:33 AM Google accepting Bitcoin is not going to interest me. I think eBay should be the interesting news. Maybe Amazon somewhere down the line. :P :P

After that, any company Bitcoin adoption will not matter. Let's see how it works out, but I'm sure Bitcoin will get support from Google at some point. Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: botany on October 13, 2014, 04:31:04 PM Google should instead focus on data analytics from the blockchain.
I am sure it is a treasure trove of information. :) Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: John0x00 on October 13, 2014, 04:34:02 PM Google accepting Bitcoin is not going to interest me. It will but mainstream adaption is what always takes the price down they never hold their bitcoins just like Dell. Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: Beliathon on October 13, 2014, 05:41:40 PM Apple pay is a non-factor only serving AT MOST the wealthiest 5% of the world (300 million / 7 billion = 5%). Here's why:

Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: SomethingElse on October 13, 2014, 11:39:06 PM I see Google taking the ApplePay route, just doing it slower and later. Sometimes Google takes the lead on these things, sometimes Apple. Google started it, but it floundered. Now Apple is coming out with a knockout. Google will catch up. I am sure there is already a big team working on it now saying, "how can we be like Apple?"
In a different note. Microsoft's Bill Gates has come out saying that he is pro-bitcoin. Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: deal on October 14, 2014, 12:55:55 AM Apple pay seems very hot recently. The amount of users is the key to decide which virtual coin would success eventually.

But will it embrace BTC or yet another crypto coin?Know yourself as well as the enemy. Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: hector3115 on October 14, 2014, 10:46:59 AM Bitcoin easy. All of the infrastructure is being built around it. Other cryptos are way behind.
Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: n0rBit on October 14, 2014, 01:21:55 PM Bitcoin vs Apple Pay
Pros for Apple Pay = Its made by Apple. Pros for Bitcoin = Its bitcoin! Verdict: Its made by Apple. Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: tzortz on October 14, 2014, 04:12:53 PM Is Google bigger than Apple?

Let's see how it works out, but I'm sure Bitcoin will get support from Google at some point. In order to for google to offer something like apple pay they would need to coordinate specific technology to be put into phones that support/use android, and this would be difficult at best. While apple has been able to test the technology (especially the security of the technology) with their phone prior to making apple pay available, google will not have such a luxury. Android phones are also a lot more vulnerable to attacks as they are not sandboxed and users could (and often do) download applications that are malicious that can do serious damage, and the level of damage would only go up if the phone is being used as a credit card Title: Re: googles response to apple pay Post by: bigasic on October 15, 2014, 04:27:03 AM Apple pay is just a way to make it easier to use a credit card. At the end of the day, you are still getting hit with high credit card fees, this time, apple is getting a piece of the pie. no pun intended..

Apple, Google, Microsoft and other big players will maybe make centralised shitcoin solution but they never can compete with Bitcoin and in time everyone will switch to our decentralised revolution.

However that is such a big change for mainstream to grasp they will need companies like Google to show them the way. Google putting their weight behind bitcoin should annihilate Apple Pay.
