Title: Noob question about adding coin to wallet (I want to make sure I did this right)
Post by: Psythik on October 15, 2014, 06:14:39 PM
1. Download and run Electrum standalone
2. Memorize/Save seed
3. Send BTC to one of the four addresses under Receive tab > Main account > Receiving
4. Wait for BTC to reach wallet

Please tell me I didn't skip a step and just lost $50-worth of coin!

Nope, sounds good. Make sure you safe the seed properly. Probably best to safe it offline on paper or something similar. If safed digitally encrypt it.

Will the seed get your private keys back too, or should you back those up too?

The seed is all you need when you backup electrum. All private keys derive from it, unless you import them from another source.
