Title: documentary - The rise and rise of bitcoin...
Post by: cloverme on October 15, 2014, 10:51:49 PM
As soon as I saw the starting scene and the guy said it was 2012, I kind of tuned out, watched the next 5 minutes, then stopped watching.  I think I tuned out because I figured it was filmed in 2012, it just wouldn't be up to date enough to be worth watching.  Plus watching all the LED-lit fpga mining equipment made me roll my eyes...

Did anyone see the rest of the documentary and continue to watch?

You're probably right. I'm sure everyone in this forum is pretty clear on what Bitcoin is and has been doing. My guess is that this video is an introduction to Bitcoin for people who know little or nothing about it. (Bitcoin 101.)

I downloaded it, but still haven't watched it.

I watched the whole thing last night. It goes right up to early 2014. It's an important 5 year history of bitcoin; the 5 year anniversary of bitcoin is coming up in a few days too!

It was a really good documentary in whole. There were important figures interviewed and the documentary explained how the early days shaped the start of bitcoin. These forums were also heavily featured in the documentary.

The documentary was chronological, maybe fast forward past the hippy libertarians to the good stuff?

What was it about? Explonations of how it works in deep detail or basic stuff? Is it worth watching for the avarage forum user?

It was more concerned about the history, development, growth and regulatory compliance of bitcoin in the early days to now. There wasn't much technical discussion, rather it documented the rise and fall of Mt Gox (including interviewing the Managing Director); interviewing the team at BitInstant and some of the earlier exchanges; there were a number of screenshots from these forums too.
