Title: Burstcoin PR Discussion Thread
Post by: SpeedDemon13 on October 16, 2014, 03:07:01 PM
Here is a thread to promote and push Burstcoin. Please stay on topic and no FUD. Creative and forward thinking ideas please. I have a poll of ideas, please tell me to add more. I am not a pro in promotion, but as a community, we are looking for one that is legit and honest. We hope to get a more refine thread under a professional promoter in the future, hopefully. Also, we can discuss this on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/burstcoin/comments/2jf4jh/any_ideas_how_to_promote_burst/ and https://burstforum.com/index.php .

Update 10/17/14: Education funding in the IT field, Promote at cryptocurreny conventions, Specialized Burst Assets, Hard Drive Company Sponsorship, Youtube Burstcoin Channel, Online ads are the top votes on the poll to date. These are ideas we will present to the PR team, once it is assembled.

NEXT CRYPTOCURRENCY CONVENTION IS HERE: http://www.cryptocurrencyconvention.com/london/
PLEASE ATTEND, PROMOTE AND SPEAK FOR BURST IF YOU LIVE CLOSE TO THE AREA OR HAPPEN TO BE THERE ON THAT DATE!!!...

I might build a Burstcoin youtube channel today or tomorrow.  If I decide to make it, I would like some people be a manager of the channel to edit and add content.

specialized burst asset is nice too, we can make burst asset exchange as a gateway to non-crypto assets or corporate shares, like AAPL, INTL, AMD, or hard drive manufacturer

Sounds good, maybe start with HDD companies.

or specialized storage controller or software that auto fill the disk free space with burst plot, and this plot will be automatically reduced when there is need to store data, user does not need to take care to delete files to free up space for burst plot, the software will intelligently fill the free space with plot, and delete the plot when user need to store his data.

we can propose this to NAS manufacturer, as a slogan "NAS that pay itself"

Or maybe "Free space that pays"....The software idea would be good, just got to get someone work on it....

The dev needs someone to help him do this: File storage(disclaimer: still figuring out a good way to do this. this will take a while.) . That would definitely make Burst more attractive.

or we should invite or pay the inventor of torrent to work on burst, it will make the hype in the media and also accelerate the distributed file storage and its p2p file-sharing protocol

Guess we could hit up bittorent/utorrent devs and see what they think about it, if they would collaborate with Burstcoin dev.

I sent some tweets to bittorent and utorrent, we'll see how that goes. I couldn't find an email to contact them.

Hi guys,

Really nice ideas. I was working for a few years as android dev, so i'll try to create simple app for burst - with limited functionality on beta like:
- account stats,
- notifications for new transactions and mined blocks,
- transaction explorer,
- price charts.

I'll inform you when I have the beta version. That's what i can do for community :)

Anyone know of the next big cryptocurrency convention and where? Would be good if someone that lives close by it to attend it and promote Burst?

I found this online, this is the next convention: http://www.cryptocurrencyconvention.com/london/ . If you live in the area and wouldn't mind conversing about Burst and have extensive knowledge on Burst technologies, please do not hesitate on this opportunity to help the community out.

Thanks guys. I'll try to show you stable version asap.

Imho we need to focus on few things:
- easy application - honestly, BURST configuration isn't so hard to do, but mining... You know. I think we really need ONE app to easy install with configuration (maybe auto transaction from faucet?), plots and mining (especially with default config). It will be cool if someone develope app with GUI :)
- blockchain simple API documentation,
- maybe some api to collect and show current price + chart.

And yes, someone said it before - create new thread without mining info, and without "POC" in title, but with "HDD". It's more attractive :)

Someone has already made an all-in-one GUI app, but it stands to need more tweaking. Definitely agree on a simplified version of api for the blockchain.

If you need any help from the Burst community, we are here to help with whatever we can do....

I think we should reach for new countries. Spread the mining guide in every important language out there.
We need a one-click windows miner and some smart dynamical plotting and mining afterwards.

I'm still searching for a native spanish speaker who can check my mining guide in spanish. PM me.

Good that there is a PR thread for burstcoin. But not much happened here or is there an old one that I hadn't seen?

The worst part is generating the plots, which is constant writing up to the specified plot size. Once the plots are generated, usage is minimal. If I remember correctly, 256KB will be read per plotted GB for each block, trying to find the right value to unlock a block. My main rig has 20TB plotted in it, each block change brings about a new 5000MB disk read.

Now look, that Thread seems to be about 4 years old and the coin is as shitty as ever.
Now, IS that a Public PR Thread or isnt it?

Do you always talk dumm about things you evidently have no idea of?

October 16th - Burst MktCap $80k
November 28th - Burst MktCap $14M

"as shitty as ever" - yeah.

3 weeks after your witty comment it broke ATH at $47M, January 6th - $230M

Maybe you can serve as anti-prognosis tool.

I mined Burst for a while. Really buggy crypto, had to use the online wallet method since all other guides failed. You couldn't even get a PC wallet app to work.

One day I read the Burst blockchain split into 6 forks. The online wallet I used went offline. Now when I try to log in using my passphrase it tells me I'm a new user. When I try to use my wallet address on a block explorer, it isn't recognized. Kind of curious how it could have vaporized, especially since my wallet was before the fork.
