Title: Satoshi client gui suggestion
Post by: teste on May 20, 2012, 06:03:54 PM
Hi,

Recently I received an email from safebit team with a link with screenshots of their chrome application, see: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ckcmvo36bwusfe0/pg7cF3ubsR#/

I really liked the design of safebit, like:

1- The send coin, receive coin.. as button on main window too (not only on sidebar) .
2- I liked the idea of have the sidebar together with tabs options on top.
3- I liked the clean interface.
4- I liked all other things that my bad english can't describe.

Hope satoshi client gui devs follow this kind of design. And you, what do you think?

Why not simply support the Safebit project? :)

The idea of Safebit is to make Bitcoin accessible to non-techies, this is why I created the project in the first place.

Honest I think the idea of an "official" client is contrary to the idea of p2p network.  Hopefully in time the "satoshi" client will become just one of many peers.   The "official client" vs ALTNERATE clients.  Even the forum has a sub forum called "alternate clients".  Why not just "clients".   For example there is no official miner just a forum full of miners acting as peers that rise and fall in demand based on their technical capabilities.

So if you like feature abc on client xyz, then use xyz, donate to the project, and convince others to use it.  The "satoshi" client shouldn't be the uberclient.  Honestly I really hope no significant resources are spent improving the GUI of the satoshi client.  It is far more useful as a "reference" design.  A template that gives other developers a working copy when implementing patches, bug fixes, and new features (multi-sig, etc).
