Im new to all of this I've been doing some research on bitcoin and i wanna start mining asap i have around $5000 to invest.. im going to have a cpu custom built by one of the local computer stores in my area.. i just need to know what i should tell them spec wise can somebody please help me thanks

Read the wiki pages first, there are comparisons of GPUs (how much hashing power they deliver) and also some backgrounds about bitcoin (or: why every ~10 days (currently) you will get ~40% less income (currently)).
