As topic states, I want to know which of the 3 major USD exchanges is the most secure to you.

Really, Cryptsy doesn't get a mention?

for me it´s Btc-e or exmo

Why not 4 major exchanges according to Coindesk' BPI?

have had no problems with btc-e and been using for over 18 months.

For sure BTC-E, it's the best exchange for me.

I have had an account on bitstamp for a long time. But haven't used it in a few months.

I'm wary of all the current exchanges, but I trust btc-e more than the other ones.

yea learned that the hard way with vircurex, still have "frozen" funds there..  >:(

But I guess thats my own fault for being cheap and wanting the intrest they offered on held funds.  ::)

I know the bitfinex just recently, it is actually like a gambling, I don't trust it.

On the other hand, bitstamp's authentication mechanisms is too annoying. Even you complete the verification, they will still freeze your funds when you're volume much.

So why not use lakebtc? its liquidity is highest, and security is best.

Your Coins  are not safe anytime they are outside your ownership

Just you deposit your coins at an exchange doesn't make your coins now owned by the exchanges.  

Just like taking your kids to school doesn't make your kid's teachers their new parents.


If everyone kept their money off the exchanges you would only have auction sites, when's the last time you saw one of those for crypto.  When you go to an exchange you expect to see items available to buy if nothing is there what good is it?   Do you randomly return multiple times a day hoping to find someone who wants to sell what you want?  

Nevertheless, without the exchange your coins are almost worthless, when's the last time you took a look at the chart of a coin just before it was delisted and after it was actually delisted?    It goes from bad to worse and in every case there was a warning.   When it gets to the point of that very last exchange to delist it gets even more ugly, it's like a ghost town at the community ANN thread.

So you could have all of the coins in the world if no one else wants them they only have worth to you.  


Now, for the practical side, let me know when you transfer all of your funds to multi-sig paper wallets that you provide to various people in various locations both physical and electronic, then I will know you know how to keep your money safe?

Cryptsy, but nowadays you never know.. I'd rather keep my coins in my wallet as much as possible.

How my Coins are secured is   my own business but I will let you  know that they are securely  stored in a way that I am comfortable with

i  didn't say btc should be delisted, rather that people should not rely on exchanges as  they  all go bust sooner or later, if I absolutely had to sell  £1000 worth of coins on an exchange I would do it £50- £100 per time etc and never give them control of more Coins than I could lose without worrying

Out of the three choices, I will pick btc-e.

You have btc-e or bitstamp, they are good.

Bitstamp and BTC-e are most popular and reliable exchanges.  In addition BTC-e provides many deposit/withdrawal methods.

Only a matter of time before they are ready to pull a gox...

cryptsy has been good for me

As crazy as this sounds BTC-E hasn't really shown any evidence of running a reserve. And they've been around forever (in bitcoin time). I've had no problems with them and when I need to be in cash I use them. When I need to sell and have $ in my bank account I go with coinbase.

People used to say that about Mintpal 8)

i never heard problem about it...

i think they are all secure and you can give trust at the same mode...

and if so you can choose about your graphics preference :-)

Btc-e is the best for me, I love BTC and have been trading at btc-e for 6 months.. it's a good way to make ROI legally. Everything is running well, no problems at all

BombayBitcoinBourse.com I trust. It is offering 0.1% fees on trading. Only problem being, it has less users. I am sure they will expand over time. BTC-e for now is the option, but watch out for Bombay Bitcoin Bourse!

btw,  cryptsy is good for me, but sometimes is very very slowly and have some high fees, in the other side i can say that they seems to be very profesional with his services, there is always OP at his chatbox ready to help you and they seems to be one of the oldest exchanges out there.

ohh w8, poloniex is not there too? why not? polo is a really faster exchange, im using it in the pass 2-3 months and seems pretty good, you should ad it.

Btw i suggest everybody not leave large amounts of bitcoin in any exchanges, just for security, the most secure BTC you can have is at your qt wallet ;)


between Bitstamp, Bitfinex and Btc-e all of them seems good too, but i cant give your my opinion since i used them just few times, but i will vote for Bitstamp.

Cryptsy's BTC/USD market is growing every week, but it's still very low in volume.

Poloniex also offers BTC/USD but their volume is beyond low, barely worth mentioning.

It's a altcoin exchange I guess, we are talking about the BTC exchange.

Yeah that's totally true! Watching BTC-e's trollbox is really exciting if you have spare time, it's better than all TV shows  ;D

Other than this, BTC-e has high volume for BTC and LTC. I know there are better sites with higher volume; but BTC-e has different atmosphere thanks to that trollbox :)

I have used just bitstamp...n am kinda satisfied with it..! watching BTC prices go up n down is fun! but ive heard that exchanges r controlling the BTC prices 4 their own profits...! is that true?

Trust your own wallet and not any exchange or you will likely be crying some day when it's all vapourised....
