Title: Bitcoin on Facebook
Post by: lekarz on October 22, 2014, 12:24:55 PM
For a long time I wonder why Facebook is the mass of games and other applications, but there is no application to exchange Bitcoin. What stands in the way to create something like this?

Maybe there will be in the future, but if it became some sort of currency exchange there would be all sorts of new laws from each country they would have to comply with and it would become a nightmare.

First.Sorry about my English.

That's not what I meant. People on Facebook are mentioned Bitcoin. But if you want to real currency is shed by these bitcoiny on the stock exchange (BTC-e, Huobi etc.).

For example:
- As an alternative to "Like",
- The possibility of paying multiple person at a time,

Such a solution would make that Bitcoin would go to the ordinary customer. Application on Facebook does not have to display the QR code or key BTC. Suffice to indicate the amount and the person (s).

I don't think facebook will add bitcoin exchange apps, but create a game with btc as one of payment methods to buy tokens is possible.

But if people would be able to boast on the main page that someone gave a small amount it could to make that BTC would become as popular as Farmville. Then Bitcoin reached by ordinary users "Ice Bucket Challenge".

So "Bitcoin Bucket Challenge" !!!

<I don't think facebook will add bitcoin exchange apps>

But you can write an application to exchange Bitcoin inside Facebook. In contrast, replacement of the Fiats followed by the stock markets such as BTC-E.
Now do you understand?

There is an app that works wonders, you can send BTC to anyone that has a facebook account.

http://www.quickcoin.co/

Do you mean sending BTC to people on facebook or create an exchange to buy BTC with fiat on facebook?

So we can start Bitcoin Bucket Chalange?
Every body should send to 3 person 0.001 BTC and show its in main page:P

<Do you mean sending BTC to people on facebook or create an exchange to buy BTC with fiat on facebook?>
I mean to sending money by people on facebook like quikcoin. But it scholud be popular like "like".

Besides, I can see that the coin is a quick external application.

Such application should be closely linked with Facebook and allow bragging made the transaction. Enable rewarding friends for interesting posts.

Facebook already has code in place to add payments to Messenger:

I think it may be pretty soon that they integrate Bitcoin.

I worked with someone else on this, friendswithcoins.com but we both had other projects we were focused on.

You would basically go on friendswithcoins and say that you were looking to buy or sell, then it would check your friends list to see if anyone else was buying or selling.

If a friend was selling and you were buying you could send them a request for X amount of coins. If they accepted it then you would transact through the website.

It is certainly a good idea, as we worked on it we saw some word about localbitcoins working on something for Facebook.

I doubt Facebook will allow you to trade BTC.  They have many rules and regulations for developers.  It would be nice however if they did.

I think it could have been. maybe 1 or 2 years. because there are some new social networking site that deploy it, give bitcoin for each activity, posts, comments, likes, and others. but should still be limited each day so that bitcoin prices do not fall

If other popular websites and services likie Wikipedia already accepted bitcoin for donation, FB can also do this, I don't see why not?

I guess that Facebook would opt for using regular FIAT currencies - at least at the moment! I'd also be all for using Bitcoin there, but we have to remain realistic and it just is easier for the regular person to use a currency they're used to. They, sadly, don't care for all the advantages Bitcoin brings!

The problem with that is fiat currencies are good at the national level, while bitcoin is global. A person sitting in China might not want to send dollars/euros to another person sitting in China. Bitcoin, however, knows no international boundaries.  :)

Currency exchange would be a difficult task for facebook.

It's a social network for people to make friends, meet new people and currency exchange is a different thing and brings disputes with it.

Has Mark Zuckerberg ever commented on Bitcoin before?

It seems strange to me I have never heard him publicly comment one way or another. He must be aware of Bitcoin right?

Any instance of bitcoin inside of facebook would likely not involve any kind of currency exchange. A more likely application would be that facebook accept bitcoin for payment for "upgrades" in the various games that can be played on it's game platform (like candycrush, farmville, ect). They also may potentially accept bitcoin for payment for their ads as well.

I would personally doubt we would even see the ability to send bitcoin to anyone on your friend list as this would create even more of an incentive for people to try to hack facebook accounts (and it isn't like facebook doesn't get enough of it's accounts hacked as it is now)

Says he spoke about it in Hungary, but when you go to that link it is just some guy mentioning that Zuckerberg said Bitcoin in the translation.

So what did he say about Bitcoin?

Buying and selling from your friends on Facebook would be one of the best ways to have trusted transactions. It makes it easier to pay via PayPal or bank transfer with a lower chance that the person will do a reverse on the payment. If they do, you can call them out on their wall in front of their friends and family.

Yeah.. I hope btc, paypal and bitcoin worked hand in hand.
