Title: Micronations!
Post by: riso2015 on October 23, 2014, 02:21:45 AM
For those of who you don't know what a micronation is:

What is a micronation? ???  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micronation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micronation)

Hi I'm President Riso of Navismaris, which is a small Micronation in north america. If you'd like you can check out our website navismarisgov.com (http://navismarisgov.com) which currently doesn't have a lot of content due to the fact we switched our domain and service provider.

So the main reason I made this post is because I personally love micronations, I like the odd and interesting people that are attracted to them, and I like to see small nations develop their own, culture, governments, and identities!

I want to hear everyones thoughts on micronations, weather they be positive or negative!

That doesn't make much sense.   :-\

What the hell? I did not get op's post at all. What are you asking us? If we like microtransactions? Of course not! The answer is ONE and only - NO, we hate them. Microtransactions are a cancer. People are blind enough just not to see that soon they will be paying a lot more for lot less with this idiotic scheme of microtransactions.

We used to use freewebs.com for our services, now we use godaddy. Once we stopped paying freewebs (we used their premium features) they locked our site. So its a pain in the ass to get our stuff now.

I suppose it could be considered some form of role playing. Becoming an independent entity isn't impossible however, the people from Sealand did it, and so did freetown christiania. We aren't looking for recognition from large sovereign entities, all we are looking for is a place which we can call our own.

LOL.  Go tell the US government you are taking their land as your own.   ;)

Thats not really a good way to do it. The best way is to go live in a "grey" area, like Sealand, they live on an old rig in the middle of the ocean in international waters. We have tossed around several ideas, from doing something like getting our own rig, or buying a large sail boat and using that as Navismaris.

Also I'm not putting you down but anytime I mention a micronation someone always says "Go tell the US government you are taking their land " and I just want to make it clear, that the US government wouldn't do anything for the main reason they wouldn't recognize us as a sovereign entity. If anything we would be seen as non-violent protesters.

You wouldn't be a sovereign entity.  Any representative of the US could enter your micro-nation at any time, without needing a passport.  Try and stop them, and you would be invaded instantly.

Staying in international waters would be your best bet.  But then you really do need a navy to protect yourself from pirates.

Thats true, and its a problem we have been attempting to plan for. Considering we would be in international waters and several of the people on board with this project have military experience (I myself was a tanker in the US Army) we may  be able to defend ourselves against such attacks. However when it comes to our safety "may be able to defend ourselves" isn't sufficient enough for us to put our plan into motion.

Well sounds cool!  Let me know when you do it.  I'm going to join your nation, then secede in one of your staterooms as my own independent micro-nation.

Free oceanfront property!  :)

Ha sounds good man! Only problem with that is what will you do when our army of four knocks on the door?   ;)

I don't think your military would do anything for the main reason they wouldn't recognize me as a sovereign entity. If anything I would be seen as a non-violent protester.

 ;)

(But seriously, good luck with your plan.  It is certainly achievable and I would be jealous.)

Hm, been seeing some micronations pop up here and there. Do you intend to expand your land area (aka take over parts of the USA around you)?

No we would much rather do something similar to what sealand did. We all respect the united states and its people.

Nope, it's from 2005. But it's a really fun show! :)

Will you be sending a request for federal statehood to the imperial government?

No, sea steadng is a much better, and achievable route than asking the United States Government if they could "Prtty plz giv us sum land?!?"

Now with that said sea steading can be both costly, and dangerous if you don't have a solid plan. We are on the track to a solid plan however we do hit a speed bump here and there. That is why currently we are refining our plan. We feel if we implement enough programs and procedures then organize ourselves enough that when we head out to sea, we will find the transition much smoother.

Micronation? Doesn't make sense.

Micronations have been around for a long time. Some of them are highly recognized, Sealand and Molossia. Anywho, I'm quite surprised some people didn't know what they were. They've been around for, I dunno, a very long time that spans over decades. Some of them have had good and interesting histories whilst some have came to their demise (Minerva, for example.). But inside the serious league, there are some serious micronation militias, laws, currencies, languages, and... Sports.

This is certainly interesting. Haven't heard of a ton of micros with cryptocurrency as their main. I do doubt the seriousness of this highly - most likely one of the ones created for 'funsies' in someone's backyard. But who knows.

No we are legitimate. While we do quite a bit of joking with one another and aren't very serious in our demeanor online all the time, we are a serious group attempting to become an independent micronation.
