Some differences : private trackers usually have exclusive content that you can't find out there.
Fresh releases, much better speeds and a community to interact.
They're more secure and usually free of virus and fake releases.

Would there be a free try-out, or a tour, so people can see what they are getting?

I have mixed feelings on using private trackers, I belong to a few but they are free from the start (as it should be) most accept donations though. They can be a big plus if you have some niche interest or just like benefiting from the speed of people who have seedboxes on a lot of them, which is great. Also it can help if you are trying to keep a low profile if they are invite only or don't have open sign ups often but I don't rely on that for my anonymity when torrenting I use a VPN which is cheap. Sharing for the sake of sharing is great imo if you like what you torrented then go buy it if you can, charging for access to torrents and paying for it is over the line for me.

Best of luck with it, but charging for access implies that you're missing the point.   People using torrents want free stuff.    People using torrents who want security will use a free private tracker, a vpn, or will switch to usenet.   You may get a few people willing to pay your price, but not many.
