Title: Another Bitcoin Website Banned From Reddit
Post by: rampage101 on October 23, 2014, 05:53:51 PM
Not just my site that got blocked...

Here is another story of another Bitcoin website that got blocked from Reddit:

http://banksworstfear.com/bitcoin-site-banned-need-decentralized-open-source-reddit/

Yet, everybody will still continue to get their bitcoin news from their no matter how censored it gets.

This looks a lot like another attempt of banksworst fear of trying to get their domain unblocked from reddit so their domain will increase in value.

I have seen a number of these accusations of reddit "censoring' them, however all of these claims involve the site blatantly breaking reddits rules in order to make their sub-reddit look more trafficed then it really is

Submitting an article about Bitcoin to r/Bitcoin is considered spam by Reddit. They have an extremely narrow definition of what is spam.

Good luck reading only CoinDesk articles on there then  :P

BanksWorstFear was running ad free... my website http://BitcoinPriceLive.com was also ad free. We were not making any money from posting.

The main point is that many people are ONLY going to reddit bitcoin to get news, and it's heavily censored to favor certain sites.

How about you stop posting the same shit about your ban every few weeks?

How often do people have to explain to you that reddit doesn't accept that you pay people to post and spam the forum with links to your website?

I honestly think reddit has a crap ton of admins that can all do what they want and are not accountable for what / who they ban. Reddit just trusts the mods

It's not my site. Did you even read the initial post? I did not even know there was a post about this guy's site already.

My site is http://BitcoinPriceLive.com which was also banned from Reddit. They even went as far to block my IP and MAC address, in addition to a permanent URL ban.

CoinDesk and CCN which run with tons of ads are allowed to submit their articles every day there, but because they have a bigger base of users do it, it's no problem. The front page has 2 CoinDesk articles right now, and 1 CCN article.

Smaller sites which are running ad free are getting PERMANENTLY banned, for submitting articles about Bitcoin to r/Bitcoin.

Yes, they trust the mods with full power to permanently ban sites.

Check this out, the creator of quickmeme.com got to be a mod on Reddit, making $1.6 million a month from Reddit, and used bots to down-vote other meme generator sites:

http://www.dailydot.com/news/reddit-bans-quickmeme-vote-manipulation/

And then other sites like the Atlantic and Gawker have paid off moderators to have their content posted/promoted.

This is far more egregious than submitting too many articles about Bitcoin to r/Bitcoin.

Why did your SITE have been blocked? didn't they give the reason?
if not  you should  ask them why and strive for yourself

There is no notification or anything. You get "shadow banned", so everything looks as normal on the site.

When you try to ask who banned you and why, you get no answers at all. Once you are banned, they consider you scum and don't even respond to your emails anymore.

Yet, even after we got banned Reddit said they would be fined with us doing paid advertising... just we would never be unblocked from posting organically.

Those sites in violation of reddits rules
If I had to guess, I would say that a new site was not even banned from reddit. The OP is referencing banksworstfear.com which was engaged in trying to make their subreddit more popular then it really was by paying people to post there, and after they were caught made a huge fuss about them not being allowed to break the rules.

I personally assume that anyone who references this domain when complaining about being banned on reddit to ether be an alt of banksworst fear or to not care about following the rules (with empathizes on the further).
