Title: Amazon KDP on Bitcoin
Post by: infinitenot on October 24, 2014, 10:25:48 PM
I am a publisher on Amazon's KDP service. I asked them if I could get royalties in Bitcoin and they said:

Hello,

Thanks for writing in.

We currently pay royalties via paper check, wire transfer, or Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) based on the location of your bank account. We do not offer alternative payment methods such as Amazon Payments, Payoneer, or PayPal, at this time.

For more information on getting paid or changing your payment methods, please visit our Help page:

https://kdp.amazon.com/help?topicId=AE24XS35AM53P

However, incorporating Bitcoin as one of our payment methods is a great idea. In fact, we've already submitted it to our business team for consideration. They will definitely take it into account as we plan further improvements.

I don't believe that until I see at least six confirmations... ;)

Even if the answer is for real terms like "consideration" / "taking it into account" do not mean too much.

But if Bitcoin does not fail at some point Amazon will be almost forced to use it. However that might be another 1-10 years away (who knows). Let's hope Amazon survives long enough in order to be able to celebrate this event... :D

ya.ya.yo!

:D. Exactly. Post a screenshot at least, but those can easily be faked. Merely 'passing on info' isn't anything to get excited about either.

There are no much influence on the price of bitcoin if Amazon accepts bitcoin payment, same as Paypal. Although Paypal takes bitcoin payment, it has taken cautious steps and only limits to the US to take bitcoin payment. Amazon is more conservative than Paypal. .

That is indeed good news. Indirectly that will help to promote bitcoin and spur adoption. Amazon might just be one but if all affiliate sites also do the same that will be indeed a huge step forward.

Through their reply we can know: they currently  don't  accept  bitcoin payments, but in the near future, this situation maybe change, isn't it?

You are getting the wrong impression. This isn't about them taking Bitcoion, it's about them paying the book publishers via Bitcoin.

I wonder if there is a processor (e.g. Bitpay and Coinbase) out there who can help them do this.

Screenshot given. If in doubt go contact them. kdp.amazon.com. If you have an Amazon account go here and ask the question: https://kdp.amazon.com/contact-us
