They've done nothing so far. We just need to petition together to get this guy banned. Its our only hope.

you have a report buttom and you have a meta section

strange you complaim about someone that clutter this section with useless info while you make a thread that does not belongs to this section and adds nothing about gambling discussions.

Mods have said it before that trolling is hard to moderate. Most of it is left as is since it's hard to figure out of the posters are either trolling or if they are being serious.

I wish that the ignore function was more useful. It's pretty meaningless to have someone ignored yet still be able to see his username around. In fact all you do by ignoring someone is to just hide the text of his posts while he's still ignored. But you can still see his posts through quotes.

Maybe even if the troll was receiving a notification each time someone ignored him, people would have a greater motivation to to it. In addition, trolls motivation to keep being toxic would be reduced if people started ignoring them massively and they were directly notified about it. This way trolls and anyone else unwanted by a large chunk of the community would be silenced without having to be banned.

We could also have a statistic - Ignored by X people.
If you see posts from a person who has been ignored by a large number of people, you know that you don't have to take him seriously.

I believe we did have a similar feature a long time ago.
IIRC, in the past, the ignore button will change to another color when the user is ignored by many different people.

For some reasons, the feature was removed.

The troller users are not forbidden here , the only (absolutly) thing that is not allowed : it is the spam. So you can report him to be " a spammer" but at the end the staff can do nothing because  technically he is not a spammer : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=375258;sa=showPosts.

I would like to be wrong, but it is up to the staff to ban him.

EDIT: I've checked in the log (https://bitcointalk.org/modlog.php) and his id does not appear #375258

Don't feed the troll... eventually he will go away if everyone ignores him.

He's been trolling here for over a year, and on investorshub for almost 8 years.

I don't think he has anything else to do.

According to the unofficial bitcointalk rules (listed by mod mprep), trolling is not allowed but that rule is enforced less often.

Awesome!

You used 3 twice. Trolling is against the rules?
Corrected, thanks. Yes, trolling is against the rules. It's removed less often due to the fact that it's harder to identify.

I feel this would have the inverse effect on the user being ignored, if their intention was to troll. Being ignored, to them, is a measure of success. Imagine you were in their shoes, being notified every time you pissed someone off enough to make them ignore you would be somewhat satisfying.

And yes, I strongly recommend that the mods ban BBmmBB. I believe his posts constitute spam, since they are so numerous and contribute nothing to the discussions he involves himself in.

What I meant to say was that the current ignore function is pretty much useless. You can still the username and a blank post space everywhere a person you've ignored posts. Also quotes will allow you to see his full posts.

If the trolls knew everyone has ignored him, and ignores were more effective therefore entirely hiding his posts from the majority of the forum they would have no one to troll.

Agreed on both fronts. Trolls would get a kick out of being ignored. To them that would be like scoring a point. They want to know their actions are getting a reaction out of people. The best way is to just ignore them silently and don't respond to them at all, but someone always will, but BBmmBB should be banned for doing nothing but being a disruptive troll.

It  is obviously then his posts is not constructive for the forum (in general) but I think he never will be banned , or am I wrong ?

This guy is a little entertaining Imo, You never get bored of his posts when you are in the mood and when you aren't just click the ignore button.
Also it would be meaningless to ban an account like that, that account hold no special value at all (excluding the glowing red trust) so it would be very easy for him to just use a new account and troll like the usual.

Why don't you use your ignore list function, and prefer to whine hopelessly here?

+1. Yes, if you think he is trolling, then you can press ignore, so every post made by him will be hidden till you undo it. I personally don't do it because I like to read trolls. ;)

Ironically, the account was banned after the "hopeless whine". :P
