Title: ZeusMiner thunder X3 Question
Post by: KalistoCA on October 31, 2014, 10:40:02 AM
Hi Everyone;

i have an opportunity to pick up one of the above miners for $325.00 i'm wondering if this is a worthwhile investment for current srypt mining at this price.  there is no power supply included but that fine enought.

this would be my first piece of dedicated equipment for mining and am a bit nervous as for me that is a fair chunk of cash for starting up.

i would appreciate any feedback on this miner from the community before i purchase it.

thanks

kali

I would wait. I think the version you are talking about is power hungry.  They have a preorder that it's hard to tell release date but it beast the efficiency.  And A2 chips out already almost make these obsolete.

ok i noticed that the suggestion is a 1200W power supply which was a pretty sizable chunk of power.
although running the calculators on LTE it still comes back as profitable.  I guess the question is for how long.

it depends on how much you pay for electric to be honest.

Definitely would steer clear of the X3 units -- especially when you can find good deals right now on X6 Thunders (20Mh/s) for $269.00 and it uses about 480 watts -- and putting probably 1/2 the amount of heat.

I guess the X3 would be an ok deal if you were to not have an issue with heat and electricity was free -- and you had a 1200 watt PSU.

BTW - have you all seen the A2 Terminator 30Mh/s units listed on Ebay?  They consume about 315 watts and include PSU (but not sure about controller).  Perfect little unit for lower difficulty coins -- if the price is right.

Looks like they might ship from the US - but it is a delayed ship for Dec 22 to Jan 5th - so it sounds like the units are not in stock yet (AKA Pre-Order).  But they are offering a 14 day money back guarantee.
