Title: Personallized bitcoin address?
Post by: MTJ151 on November 01, 2014, 02:31:27 AM
I noticed from the details section of this youtube video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7YmJZ-qVW8

That there is an address that you can use to donate to Dorian Nakamoto (apparently). The address is 1Dorian4RoXcnBv9hnQ4Y2C1an6NJ4UrjX.

I was wondering how he got an address with his name in it?!

Also, I've got to add from the couple of videos I have seen about him... that dude seems to one humble and honest person!

It's called "vanity bitcoin address", Google it and you shall find.

its called vanitygen.

make sure you download the proper vanitygen program and not use services where you offer bounties to people for them to do it.

Use oclvanitygen instead of vanitygen if you have a good GPU. You can generate a longer personalized part.

Make sure you know what you are doing or things can turn sour real quick.

it can be done using vanity wallet gen
but you make sure you don't share private key with anyone else
and it should be a key splitted wallet generation for safety

Just be aware that it is good practise to only use an address the once, as they are designed to be single-use tokens.

This is open for debate. This was something that satoshi said to do when QT was the only wallet service available. However since then many other wallet services have been created, many of which offer much greater coin control abilities

I was referring to the ecdsa public key being revealed when an address is reused after being spent. This is irrelevant to the type of wallet used.

Buffer Overflow is correct.

Very tempting. I've always wanted to create one of my own but have avoided till now. Like they say if you know what you are doing then go ahead, else better not
