Title: BFL UNIT 832 DEVICES
Post by: lightlord on May 30, 2012, 01:54:11 AM
Hello on BFL site it clearly states Delivery: Units are shipped within four to six weeks from the date of purchase.
Meaning 28-42 Days.

Mine got shipped in 60 days. Does BFL offer any compensation for this?
For breaking their *are* which means *will*, isn't it breaking a promise?
I ordered 4 in total. They should either offer another BFL unit for free
for going past their date info. Which 4-6 weeks is clearly false.

It should of said it may be 4-6 or more. It just says 4-6 weeks.

I would like some compensation for mining loss times.
BFL would be nice to offer another BFL unit for free to ship as of this.

Best regards
Lightlord

Why are you asking us?

Why are you asking us?

Because a lot of you have also gotten this?

BFL Mini-Rig "wait list" thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=76916.0

Moved the post from the other thread to this one for quicker access.

If you have found this list useful and are feeling generous, please tip to the address in my signature.  Any amount would be much appreciated.  Either way, I will continue to keep the list up to date even after I receive my own singles.

Wait time added ( 6 weeks is 42 days)

To be added to list, post your order date, quantity(optional) and when they come in your shipped date.

So you want $600, because they were 18 days late?

Title: Re: BFL UNIT 832 DEVICES

You should have checked what the guarantee was.  The guarantee is that if they fail to meet the delivery deadline you can cancel your pre-order without penalty.  An option you didn't take advatage of.  They didn't guarantee anything beyond that.

Given 100% of pre-orders to date have failed to meet the guaranteed window the odds BFL gives you a free $600 device is between slim and none.  Sorry that is too optimistic.  It is between none and none.

Your request is like going into a ferrari dealership which says satisfaction guaranteed, saying your aren't satisfied and asking for the key to a free car as compensation. :)

Well everyone on the list should be given a free BFL unit not just me.
-Well properly 3+ BFL unit orders should be given this deal.
And lesser then 3 BFL units should be deposited $100-$300 cash back.

Thats only 60 free BFL units, properly only costs $300 to make, an guess.
$300*60=$18,000.

But they have made much more then that. I am sure they can compensate.
Besides if they do compensate, a lot more customers will join them, yielding
more then $18,000 for them being nice to do so.

A free BFL unit to everyone is a little over the top, but I added this above.

No offense, but you are an idiot, you are pulling numbers out of your ass, and asking a company that I would guess is selling BFLs at almost cost (based on their price vs other fpgas that are selling at cost for $500 or so) to give out thousands of dollars they don't have because you were unhappy that you got something 18 days late.

Its not me I am talking about, I am talking about everyone else that ordered from them
Perhaps a $25~$50 compensation pay back per BFL unit?

Just saying they should give something back.
I properly was over the top.

But I am just pointing things out that
there are a lot of unhappy people out there.

I'm quite sure that anyone that has seen the wait list knows how long it is going to take. And if you are upset with the time it took, why would you buy more?

Listen, I am right at the top of the list, and do you hear me bitching? No. While we all agree that the marketing materials (website) could be adjusted to reflect something accurate, I'm not asking for a refund for fuck's sake. If you were around when they first showed up, you would have gotten in at the pre-order price of $499 anyway, like I did. You are late, so that is your loss.

You also had plenty of opportunity to read some of the dozens of threads here about them, and make an informed decision, but since you didn't bother I am going to call this bullshit right now.

Again I am merely pointing this out from the customer perception, a company offers a offer, if it can't be meant
There should be compensation for the customers. Even if its little, there should be some.

I agree you were good to not bitch about it, but I am just comparing to real life companies,
If they can't meet there timeline, they should give their customers something in return.
For making it up.

Please, read the terms before you buy something. You chose not to take advantage of their guarantee, which was the ability to cancel your pre-order. Surely you're not arguing that BFL should force its customers to cancel their pre-orders after 42 days?

Its the company job to give the customer the compensation for its mistake, its not the customer job to ask for it.

So, if it isn't your job, why are you asking for it?

Um If i just canceled it after 42 days, that is a lot of mining time loss...
I sold all my video cards to trade for BFL units.

If I just canceled I would lose a lot of mining time.

I'm not disagreeing with the loss, I'm just pointing out that BFL has honored all of their terms.

If you really want to push this, take it to them - the forums aren't going to be sympathetic, though I suppose you've probably figured that out already.

Title: Re: BFL UNIT 832 DEVICES

And BFL encouraged you to sell all your cards to buy their products? Did BFL warranty in their terms of the sale that they would provide compensation at insane levels to everyone who ordered from them for months and months because a single customer voiced his displeasure with a time frame getting pushed 50% over expectations?

It is not their responsibility to guess what will make one malcontent happy because he liquidated his operations to change mining methods. One can only guess how many more free units you will request when they don't come out of the box already mining at the pool of your choosing, and you actually have to configure them yourself. That's not right... they should have known that you wanted to mine at LMNOP Mining and they should have pre-configured for you.

Exceptionally unlikely that they are not making a good profit on the BFL singles.
Read the following thread about the chip price ...
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=79825.0
Yes, and from other comments made by BFL, it sounds to me like they might have convinced Altera to spin up another run of wafers based on the old masks for those chips, and not have gotten them NOS or any such thing.

Nobody forced you to order.
Nobody prevented you from inquiring what the "guarantee" covered and determining it was insufficient.

Trying to go back after the fact and ask for "free moniez" is lame.

You saw the wait list?
You knew the delivery time was more than 6 weeks?
And you ordered so shut the hell up.

I think this is lightlords way to advertise that "pay me to be quiet" in his sig. Imagine all the people that want him quiet and not making threads with absurd demands. Well played, sir.

Your business idea is good but there is one big flaw... Ignore button.

They need to just take that crap down. Pretending it could be significantly less then 4 weeks... I don't know why so many people act like its the customers fault for not researching it more. You should be able to get a honest answer from BFL. Instead they lie through their teeth if you email them about delivery times. Anyone who defends BFL's for doing that is just a TOOL.

So the guy at pizza hut said 30 minutes guaranteed, but most likely significantly less. And every time you call to see what's taking so long, they say. "Just another 5 minutes." When in reality they have been 4-5 hours behind all week long and damn well knew it. They deserve everyone negative comment they get about it. BF still has up that same guarantee time right now FFS.

I didn't see anyone defending BFL practice.

However the guarantee is simply a refund of purchase price if you wish to cancel.  The OP chose not to take that option.

Personally I think they should put up a realistic timeframe (which would be 6 - 10 weeks) and offer a better guarantee (i.e. non-delivery penalty) but BFL has enough orders that honestly they don't really give a shit.

That being said, the devil is in the details.  The OP assumed the "guarantee" entitled him to some sort of compensation.  He didn't.  At some point personal responsibility comes into play.

Honestly I don't get why the mods don't swing ban hammers until their arms are tired. The amount of crap that is posted to this forum makes it very hard to find the signal in all the noise. The FPGA sub-forum alone consists of 85% crap(mostly circle jerking about BFL's delays), 14% regurgitated information, and 1% helpful information.

*- This post falls in that 85%.

I believe most people think the guarantee means more when they order, I've never seen it stated anywhere what it means. The wording makes it seem like they have never missed a deadline. Any legit business takes returns on items unless custom made, especially if they have not even filled the order yet. I expected my order to be late what I placed it. I was not annoyed until support started sending me complete bs delivery times. Seems like their policy to extremely exaggerate shipping dates until the bitter end.

Also when I sent emails, they said they would get back to me in one day with an address to send money to for BFL units.
But no sadly they came back to me in about 2 weeks later, saying srry and things posting address.
I sent money to it and someone else said We got the transaction what was this?

I was like uh that is for the 3 BFL units.

Not the best customer service

Yes, David. You order to the same address as before.
Even though you sent $640 we received only $602.76 and we are researching to
see why so much was extracted from the payment. So let me email you tomorrow,
when I have heard from the bank. --Sonny

Its been over 6 days. You haven't emailed me yet. And I haven't got the confirmation through yet to do the ordering.
I want to buy 2 more, but you said let me email you tomorrow once I heard from bank.
I am still waiting on the bank confirmation.

I know you have 100 orders, and its quite hard dealing with that many.
But by now 6 days I should of gotten a response?

Best regards
David

Hi David,

We have been off shipping product. Sorry to be so long getting back to you. The bank was slow getting back to me. They were in error and its all straightened out now. Your payment has been noted and your BitForce SHA256 Single is secure. Your date of purchase is 03/23/2012. I will keep you informed as to the expected delivery date of your order.

If you still want to order more you can use the same routing information. Let me know if you need me to send it again.

Sincerely,

David,

Did you send an order through the online order template? I received your bankwire but I don't see your order for 3 more.

Jody

I sent you an email, and you said in the pass that I can just send to the bankwire and you would be fine.
I also given the wire confirmation.

Did you get this????
I guess you are a different person.

Hi David,

I hear you are frustrated with my response time and I am sorry. The bankwires take some time to clear and while I wait for them I am answering many other emails. I have noted your order but have not confirmed the bankwire yet.

Sincerely,

Jody D.

He before that gave me a place to send the money off to,
He was saying it was fine to re-send there again.
But Kinda turned into a mess, eventually cleared up taken two weeks or so.
Was a long time in the past.

And now its almost June -.- When I placed order at April.

Customer service is 1/10, but they do get the job done eventually

Well everyone on the list should be given a free BFL unit not just me.
-Well properly 3+ BFL unit orders should be given this deal.
And lesser then 3 BFL units should be deposited $100-$300 cash back.

Thats only 60 free BFL units, properly only costs $300 to make, an guess.
$300*60=$18,000.

But they have made much more then that. I am sure they can compensate.
Besides if they do compensate, a lot more customers will join them, yielding
more then $18,000 for them being nice to do so.

In the 18 days they were late for you, mining on three units would have made about $150.  While I do not believe they owe you on that, that would be the max, your lost opportunity.
