In ONE sentence. Explain why Bitcoin makes sense for the average person. I like it because I'm a geek, but when people ask me why THEY should care about Bitcoin, I have a hard time answering.

Let this be a thread for mainstream PR.

I want a good solid mainstream answer I can give people TODAY that doesn't include the words decentralization, inflation, cryptocurrency, the Feds, peer to peer, or Ron Paul.

You should start using Bitcoin because...

You should start using Bitcoin because the banks do not back the currency, the people of bitcoin do.

You should use Bitcoin so you don't have to wait 3-4 business days for ACH transfers from your bank to clear

You should start using Bitcoin because you can gamble with the lowest fees ever on all kind of games.

When you win, you can buy a tesla. Or transfer your money anywhere in the world paying a ridiculous fee for big money amounts, and the transfer will be done in minutes!

Try to transfer 10 million USD fiat from China to USA and then Afghanistan and Nicaragua. .. with btc, it will be done in 2 hours and cost you a dollar or so!

You should start using bitcoin because you could make any payment in few seconds with low fee around the world.

The average person should use Bitcoin because it

reduces fraud,
reduces waste,
promotes personal freedom and basic human rights, and
saves money in the long run.

Start using bitcoin because it's different, fun to use and is the cheapest way to send money over the net.

The block chain technology is of great value for instantaneous transfers of contracts/currency/money/etc.

Because our fiat is failing us and is controlled by corrupt individuals.

I am not sure why you think it would cost a dollar to make two transactions. If you were to push two transactions then it should not cost you more then $0.08. Also one good thing about bitcoin is that it doesn't matter where the person receiving the money is, you just send a TX to a public address and the receiver will have access to the money as long as they have access to the private key

This is the only reasonable answer that would apply to normal people so far, yet it shows a real use case problem for Bitcoin:

1) different: normal people hate different. They crave the familiar. Geeks like things because they are newer and different.

2) fun to use: this is money. Most people won't switch to something more complicated because it is fun to use. And in my opinion it's only fun to use because we like geeky stuff.

3) cheapest way to send money over the net: ok, this one maybe people will understand. People like to save money. But I mentioned to my parents that Bitcoin is so cool, because you can send 1milion dollars from point A to point B with no fees. And they said...of you had a million dollars to send, do you really think you'd care about the $20 transfer fee? zing! They shut me up!

Normal people don't care. Yes they would like "less corruption" but this won't get one single user to start using bitcoin.

Most people feel they have control over their money. It's in the bank, FDIC insured. Bank fails, I get my money back up to $250,000. Oh, and most people live paycheck to paycheck.

Most people don't ever need to do this. Seriously, who needs to do this enough to adopt a whole new system of money? This is not a mainstream use case.

The fee is more but that is not important because if you look now at the fees you will look even when you will have 1 or more million dollars .... the most important thing is how fast the other person will receive the money!

With BTC in a heartbeat with FIAT after a heart attack!

So think fast and save lives! Use BTC!!!

Because you are going to be using bitcoin sooner or later whether you like it or not.

The only real decision you have is whether you want to be one of the first in line (and be financially rewarded for your boldness) or one of the last in line (and be financially punished for your lack of foresight).

because its a easy and good way of currency on the web

You should start using Bitcoins because of anonymity and lower transaction fee.

You should start using bitcoin because it's much safer , low fees & faster :D and you have full control of your money.

After reading all these responses, we have a real use case problem for Bitcoin. No one is giving me a really good compelling reason to get someone like my mom or my wife to convert money into Bitcoin, and then start using that for purchases or for sending people gifts etc.

The average person is too busy to care about their personal freedom, or about bank corruption, or about total ownership, or about slightly lower fees, or about the speed at which money is transferred from point a to point B (which I think is overstated, because I recently had to transfer a big chunk of money as a down payment on my house and it got to my lawyer same day with a $20 fee. Big deal, he didn't need it in seconds.)

I think there is a clear lack of vision in the Bitcoin community. Technology is amazing, but we still need that killer use case that gets the mainstream to do something more complicated and a little scary.

Because It will make you among the richest in the world if invested in correctly.

In fact, we need ''big merchants'' to accept bitcoin as payment option.
This will help bitcoin to become mainstream, many more people will start using bitcoin, and this will help bitcoin to become more stable and to spread to all corners of the world.
So, we need first dedicated members of bitcoin community, who will take time and effort to explain advantages of bitcoin to average people and merchants around us.
This step is the most difficult.
 

It's cool. Look i have this currency call bitcoin which i keep in my phone and it's not controlled by anybody except me...

Lol. I guess being cool is one reason, but I'd rather personally save mine and look even cooler in the future  ;D. Or maybe bitcoin will be uncool when it becomes worthless (which I'm hoping it wont, obviously).

You should start using the bitcoin Bitcoin Because you can get to know other people from all countries, here you get entertainment (gambling) but generate finance. and if you are serious you will be rich :)

Because is low fee, smoth and fast transaction, decentralization and revolution currency. But be careful to scammer ::)

Well if we start use bitcoin now it will be giving lot of profit when bitcoin reach high price in the future.
who buy early will get more profit than new user.

You should start using bitcoin because its just great, its great to be a part of a noble community, you can make transactions in seconds without the interference of banks, you can be your own bank and do whatever you want, bitcoin makes you feel that your money is actually yours!

These are good points, totally agree with those.

Because you believe in it. I think most people use things because they believe in things.

Fiat make you a citizen of your country. Bitcoin makes you a citizen of the world. Embrace simple, cheap and fast world trade. Embrace Bitcoin.

...because you have full control of your money.
