Title: Windows miners beware: FTDI driver update may brick hardware! Post by: Luke-Jr on November 04, 2014, 10:09:03 AM Ars Technica has an article about Windows Update pulling in a driver update for the popular FTDI chipset bricking knock-off chips. I don't know if any mining hardware is using these knock-off chips, but I would suggest being careful about connecting anything to a Windows system for now. Note that if you have the WinUSB driver installed (BFx2 and cgminer users), you shouldn't be affected - but if it were me, I wouldn't risk it. If you know devices affected, please post here to let others know. Title: Re: Windows miners beware: FTDI driver update may brick hardware! INCREDIBLE ! ::) thanx for the advice Luke.. ;) another reason to stay (or coming) to Unix..
