Title: Help: Lowering Voltage on a 7970 (2 card) in Windows 7 (32 bit) Post by: Dalkore on June 01, 2012, 05:27:09 PM I am close to finally having my specification to where it needs to be. The last item that is giving me problems is this:
I can not seem to be able to lower the voltage in a windows 7 (32 bit) environment. I am using CGminer and Catalyst 12.3 with no afterburner. I did have AB on it before but when I lowered the voltage, it never actually changed with the GUI interface. Is there a special order of operations or a certain way I need to do things to get the voltage down? The same goes for lowering the memory clock as well. Suggestions? (People with 7970s only please) Dal Title: Re: Help: Lowering Voltage on a 7970 (2 card) in Windows 7 (32 bit) Post by: scifimike12 on June 01, 2012, 06:08:05 PM You cannot change the voltage in CGMiner nor will it show the actual voltage correctly. Make sure you're using MSI AB version 2.2.1. You can verify everything in GPU-Z as well.
To lower the memory clock, open up MSIAfterburner.cfg with Notepad and change UnofficialOverclockingMode = 2. Then reopen AB and lower your memory. After that, close AB again and go to MSI Afterburner\Profiles and delete anything that starts with "VEN_". Open up AB again and you should be able to lower it even further. It (should) support 7970 since 4.3.0 came out and specificly noted 7970 being supported..

Thank you much. I learned a bunch and now feel much more comfortable. I am going to work on more tweaks and I'll post updates if I get anything note-worthy.
