When you find half a BTC you put on a paper encrypted wallet... but have no idea what the passphrase is...

did you tried password recovery tools like i have seen some guy offering password recovery service if you remember a part of your password

I haven't tried anything like that yet..  Gonna see if I can figure it out when I get home from work.

Its your paper wallet  or you find it ?

Mine, so much higher chances I will be able to figure it out..  Just lots of guessing.(On a 100% offline computer)

That moment when you have all of your bitcoins in one vanity address, you import that address into a wallet and spend like .1 bitcoins.

Then the next time you go on blockchain.info to check your "balance" you see it is all gone.

Your bitcoins were moved to a new address after spending (fortunately still in your wallet).

Wasn't there a story of someone who imported his paper wallet, spend some money and than deleted his wallet, thinking the rest of the BTC would still be on that paper wallet?

Oh man, I remember that story.  I can't find it though so it might not have been on this forum but it was pretty unfortunate

try "password" ... or "love".

It would of been pretty complicated.  We'll see what I can do lol.

Aye... :S.. It's not my main holdings so it's not too bad but it still sucks..  I am half confident I will be able to figure it out.

Try using a password recovery service (make or search for a thread in the services section). That would be useful if you have a little idea about the password?

I would focus on the feeling you get when you realize how great security of Bitcoin really provides for a store of value. Sorry on losing half btc, I would look at this script:

Not sure you can use it with the paper wallet but I know some people have had to try and brute force their wallets passphrase before.

You should have put 1 BTC in that wallet then. So you'd be fully confident you could recover the password.

I wish you luck finding the pass go through all passwords you can ever think of and swap them around.

Shit, and you miss the ultimate sentence. "And you realize that you can't never have it because you haven't got passphrase"  ;D

If you don't manage to figure out the passphrase, and bitcoin price shoots to the moon. That moment......

This will only work if you are fairly certain as to what a portion of the password is (or if you know what letters are in the password for example). If you have no clue what you set the password as then you are really SOL, as there is no realistic way to recover your money

Yeah I remember that moment. But got over it after trying the password for 10-20 times and finally got correct. :P ;) :D ;D
