Russia is forcing it's citizens to swap their USD for rubles soon, and probably banning bitcoins in 2015. The article linked below speculates that rich Russians may fuel the next bitcoin boom by buying to move their money out of the country while they still can. Apparently the price of the ruble is crashing against the USD and the Russian government intends to let it carry on crashing.

Yes, but it's not likely to be banned until 2015, and the ruble is crashing in value. Rich Russians might buy bitcoins now and sell them just before any ban (if it happens) in 2015. Others might simply buy bitcoins and move abroad with them.

Russians can buy into BTC & keep their BTC.
Why would they have to cash out just before any Russian ban on BTC?
How would the Russian government know if they had a stash of BTC?

They could quite easily have a bank account in Europe or the US and if they ever need to cash in their BTC they could sell them for fiat & have that fiat in a foreign bank.

Russia can put a BTC ban in place but they can't stop people from using it.
Drugs are banned in most countries, people still do it.
Speeding is a crime, people still do it.

A Russian ban on BTC may be a deterrent but they can't physically stop people buying BTC.

In June there were awfully many people in these forums chanting about "moon soon". This had to change, and it did. Now we have awfully many bears chanting the opposite. This has to change by the nature's law of conservation of irony.

Well keep buying while the price is still low.  When I started a year ago $100 bucks barley got me 0.1 BTC. Now you can get 0.3 for $100

All this means is that the price is lower now then it was when you first started buying bitcoin. There is no guarantee that the price will ever recover to higher levels that it was previously at (although I personally think the price will increase over the long term)

But really, stop only expressing the value of Bitcoin in bitcoin in it's early stage. Nobody knows the future of this great exoeriment, but it sure is exiting!

BTC price rose by like $10 a day since I made this thread and that rise started right when I made this thread if alot of you took my advice instead of doubting a master you could have profited.

I have effectively given up hope for this year, but I'd be more than pleased if it proves me wrong in the end! At least the volume is pretty strong once again, and traders are trading again. I guess we might be in for another climb. But I expect another re-test of high $200s before that happens...

Let's hope for a steady gradual increase for the moment.
Then somewhere around $666 a selloff.
Then moon to about $5k before may.

Only future tell us what will happen. Now there is a rise but in future we can not know what will happen. So, there is good signal that price will rise up, hope that trend will do this until the end of year !

Last November we were coming off of the US government shutdown and a near default by the US government. Plus a lot of people were probably buying bitcoin in order to attempt to buy illegal drugs on various dark markets.

We do not have any of that working for us this time around :/

December 2013 was not a good month for the price of bitcoin, although this was partially due to China imposing restrictions on the use/trade of bitcoin which have since somewhat dissipated.

Late last week it was looking like we were going to see a very nice November rally, but for at least the immediate term seems to not be happening anymore.

Well I did see a rise
Then the price stabilized and is slowly going down again
But the Silk Road had an effect and ross coins coming up for auction another 50K will make things interesting for a while

It's a month for selling loved ones to buy bitcoin.

Price went up last October/November because there were big factors in play! Chinese exchanges opened, US congressional hearings were largely positive, and major retail adoption began for the first time (and now is fizzling out).

Now... there's nothing! What is there to look forward to? Regulation?

Another shattered dream.
Bitcoin has become hopelessly stable with miniscule volumes. Just 5,500 BTC traded on Bitstamp in the last 24 hours. That means they made about 8k USD in trading fees - seriously minor in the scheme of things.

well, right now we have no doubt anymore.

So sad :(

Maybe will be postponed.

It is always unwise to go and stick your neck out in such a volatile asset like bitcoin.  :)
