It's an invite from which you create an account and after you go through all the explanations, you get a hashlet. It gives a little more than a faucet, but as long as it's free, you can't complain. You must be able to get your 10GHs independently when you login for the first time when you have finished the tour. About the 500 HashPoints with the referral system: You can get them ONLY if an user you referred buy in the Hash Market You can withdraw your earning but since you have to cover the transaction fee (0.0001 BTC) and the maintenance fee the process isn't so fast, so you have to wait a little until you can actually do it.
