Title: One letter currency symbol for iXcoin.
Post by: Vlad2Vlad on November 09, 2014, 06:45:07 AM

iXcoin needs a 1 letter currency symbol.

Given each iXcoin wallet address starts with an X, we can easily use an X.  Given the name of the coin starts with an i we can also use an i.

We have to choose which letter fits best so I can then set a bounty and focus on designing the best symbol for that one particular letter.

Thanks for voting!

I would go with the "I" with the two slashes.  It's been used since the beginning on ixcoin.org.  CEX.io uses it.  It's already established so to prevent confusion I vote to keep using it.

That's a good argument but since nobody in this world seems to know about IXC this is the perfect time to change it if we're ever gonna do it.

What I like about X is that you can do so much with it and it seems everything about iXCoin revolves around an X.  Like iXpay and I can imagine iXcard, iXcredit, iXloans...etc.

Also every iX wallet starts with an X.

And of course, all global currencies start with X so it would be quite telling if iXCoin then would adopt the X symbol, a symbol known and recognized by any and all languages on earth, even the illiterate who cannot read a single word.

This is why I suggested using the X.

But I like the i very much as well, just for different reasons so I am curious to see which one gets the most votes.

C makes the least sense at all.  It's like deciding to use n just because there's a n in iXcoin.

Everytime I check this poll, the voting is tied.

Are people voting in pairs or what?  lol

Come on, we have dozens of IXC investors, let's get people voting.

The poll will close in just a few more days.

iX?

Can you name one popular world currency which has multiple letters as its symbol?

I don't understand why anyone would want to complicate the matter with multiple letters?

With Bitcoin, BTC is becoming XBT.

If we choose X and get rid of I, for iXcoin  is going to be XX, or XXC, or XIC.

If we choose I, it is going be XIX

We are not getting rid of anything, we are simply choosing 1 letter for the currency symbol instead of the IXC symbol we have now which is 3 letters [which simply won't work for any currency].

Even if we choose X for the currency symbol, iXCoin will still be iXCoin and the ticker symbol will still be IXC.

No change to the name [iXcoin] or the ticker symbol [iXC].

I voted a couple of days ago. I love the I symbol. I means International while X means eXchange. I also prefer the International meaning of the I symbol.

IX is better than I, X, and IXC

I Vote for I as well, more appealing and easier for marketing as well.

IX is better than I, X, and IXC

This is the second person saying this.

Does anybody else feel this way?

I just don't see how it would be good to use iX over i or X.

Imagine the $, €, £,¥, etc., having 2 letters, it gets messy logistics wise.  So instead of $ you'd have say D$, or E€, it just doesn't make a lot of sense when you think about having to use this symbol every single day and you'd have to have to figure out a way to put it on a keyboard if it ever went global like BTC/XBT.

If others feel iX is better and the way to go then let me know now and I'll start a new Poll with iX as a third option.

Let me know ASAP.

I just realized that we can do iX as one single letter. With an i crossing into an x.  Maybe this is what people are referring to.  That would look a lot nicer.

Ok, I'll start a new poll since this one expires today and I'll add iX as an option.

Cheers!
