Title: Has anyone else stopped caring?
Post by: mano21 on November 11, 2014, 07:38:44 AM
Don't get me wrong, I still check the price every 30 seconds, but I don't care anymore if it goes up or down.

If up, I hodl.

If down, I buy more.

Doesn't matter to me.

I'm a millionaire in 2017 anyways.

2017 i'm not so sure on though would depend on your current BTC total holding. What amount BTC in 2017 are you basing a millionaire status on? I'm thinking it'll be more 2020 before things are right up there. Still thats only 5 years.

This is why it's far less stressful to be a holder/hoarder than a trader/gambler.

Totally. I don't even assume I'll get rich. I'm just more likely to if I wait a few years.

I mostly hang out here to help me with guessing where the bubbles and crashes are on the long term exponential trend, which has made me some money. But yes, I am growing increasingly numb.

I have stopped caring even if I still check the price hourly. I don't know why I do it because I have stopped caring if I'm poor or rich. I guess this depression eats me alive..

Part of the first phase of my 5 year plan is to work on getting as many bitcoins as possible. The low price is helping toward that.

Not caring is a difficult thing to do, but judging by people's experiences from years ago it's quite a healthy attitude.

I don't really care about becoming rich either but I do not suffer from a depression luckily. It's infinitely better to be poor and happy than rich and depressed. Personally I'm content living my life with enough to eat healthy and a roof over my head, beyond that I don't need much more except my social relationships and personal interests but I don't need to be rich for that. I don't even have a car and I don't want or need one either. :)

Yes i have this exact philosophy, if it goes down im happy to buy more, if it goes up i make money.  If it dies nobody will have much of a chance to trade out in time anyway.

Yeah, this since 2012.

Only addition - if it goes up at 10% per day for several weeks in a row, I sell some, take the cash and go have fun for a while; also use it to buy when it goes down.

Also, stop checking prices it's not healthy, daily is enough ;)

I'm gonna be a millionaire. Not with a million dollars, but a million bitcoin. #chaching

You need to post your projection on how many bitcoins you need to have to be a millionaire (in bitcoin $ value) by 2017 and 2020.

My prediction (based on the best fitting model I've seen is):

End of 2017- ~$362,000/BTC
END of 2020 in this case theoretically produces $3,300,000/BTC, which is a bit too much, therefore even the best model is unlikely to be exactly correct, but these are the numbers.

$362,000 per BTC? It's more fun to skip 5 figures and just make 6-digit predictions, right?  :D

What happens if 2017 hits and the price is still in the hundreds? Will you still not care?

Ok so, I love your enthusiasm. If you're correct, at the end of 2017, I'll have over $14 mil, which I'm ok with. Either way up or down, I'm a long term hodler.

I find it strange when people post as if everyone in the thread is the OP.

Second question was meant for OP, I should have quoted him. Although, many here seem to echo his sentiment.

If this crazy ass prediction is anywhere close to being right, even in 2025 my wife will be so glad she married a nerd. She can't stand it when I talk about bitcoin now... lol

Yes.

The last time I stopped checking the price religiously was during the time period my friends dubbed '$5 forever'.

I'm bored stiff with the current price action.  Not hanging out here or looking at charts at all lately.
I won't have anything significant to invest until Jan and I have no interest in selling what I'm hodling for under $4k/BTC, so there's nothing to do.

If you mine, then you can discuss equipment, how to make it more efficient, etc.
Just buying bitcoin is incredibly boring, I agree.

(I check prices every few months.  It doesn't matter, the technology is cool).

Stopped caring a long time ago. I keep acquiring when it's low and I'd even be happy if I get back what I put in. It's like a savings acct w/ money i'd otherwise spend.  But lol at being a millionaire by 2017...would be amazing, but delusional hope don't end well.

For a brief period of time, I actually do stop caring! It's a funny thing. But I'm invested too much, I guess. I'd be sleeping better if we were at old times' $1000 prices, I guess. But I'd hate to miss out on the chance and revolution that is Bitcoin!
