Title: Antminer S1 Setup help needed
Post by: Akia23 on November 12, 2014, 11:25:22 PM
I have an antminer S1 that I can't seem to get access to via firefox. The IP address of that miner is set at the default which is 192.168.1.99. The IPv4 settings for my Windows Vista laptop are (Local Area Connection) (but normally, like if I didn't have the Antminer's setup I would use obtain IP and DNS automatically.)

IP Address: 192.168.1.254
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

I have the miner plugged into the ethernet port on my laptop and pinging 192.168.1.99 gives me the following:

a reply from 192.168.1.254: Destination Host Unreachable
a reply from 192.168.1.2: Destination Host Unreachable
Request timed out
a reply from 192.168.1.2: Destination Host Unreachable

In addition to that I get an unidentified network on my Network Connections pages in Windows Vista.

Can anyone help me get this sorted out?

first, you need to manually (temporarily) setup you laptop as 192.168.1.254,
THEN
what do you mean by pinging?
you should open the browser (say, Chrome) and input 192.168.1.1 into the space where web addresses go (top line in browser), hit <return>
but BEFORE that make sure that your miner is connected to power supply and power supply is ON
also make sure that laptop's ethernet port is active

All that did was redirect me to my router's login page. But, what is weird is my router login is usually 192.168.0.1

it does not matter what is your router configuration initially.
in fact, switch off your laptop wi-fi, it is not needed and tend to mess things up
then, setup your laptop manually as IP 192.168.1.254, everything else as you described.
Then, connect miner, which is powered on
Then go to browser and input 192.168.1.99 hit return, wait few seconds and connection should be be ON.
login: root
password: root
then, in WAN (click edit) change your miner IP to 192.168.0.99 (because your router is on 192.168.0.1-now it matters)
router 192.168.0.1
save and apply-don't forget.
You have to options-one is to use DHCP and another-static (there is a box in WAN settings). If using static, write down your setup or you will never get back to it again if you forget it.

I got an error from firefox that said The Connection has Timed Out. Also down by the clock there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it. indicating an unidentifed network.

restart the psu with ethernet connected to miner, then disconnect ethernet from miner for a sec and connect it back, making sure that connection in the jack is good.
there is a small green light close to the ethernet port on S1, it should blink green,
...if so
do the procedure that i outlined in the prior post-it should work
if not, try something here

In chrome I got this now:

Google Chrome could not load the webpage because 192.168.1.99 took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.
Check your Internet connection
Check any cables and reboot any routers, modems, or other network devices you may be using.
Allow Chrome to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.
If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server...
Check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings... > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect "Use a proxy server for your LAN".
Error code: ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

Is there supossed to be a yellow triangle down by the clock and is the network connection page supossed to say Unidentified network?
