I use it to light cigars if I do not have a matchbook on hand, has a great hemp scent and leaves no unwanted flavors on anything you smoke. I was not sold on it until I tried smoking with and without it and you can definitely taste a dramatic difference when you do not use butane to light it.

Just wanted to come in and give you a free bump. Hemp wick is the way to go if you're a smoker.

Since you are using mtgox and pricing things in USD, you should try out their BBCode button creator and let us know how well it works.

I had no idea such a thing existed. I guess we shall see how it goes, easy to set up that's for sure except when you hit new button you have to deselect USD and reselect it or it will do it in bitcoins.

My smoking days are long past, so it's unlikely I'll be your customer :P  However I'd be interested to see a pic. And how do you light the wick? Maybe a video?

So you still need a lighter or match to light the wick? From the OP it sounded like those won't be needed no more.

You just light the end of the hemp with a normal lighter and then just use the lit wick to light from there. So yes you still need a lighter initially but it keeps you from having to relight and get nasty harsh butane in your lungs. Sorry that is unclear, pulled that right from the Ital website   :-X

When it comes to cigars, I use hemp wick if I have it on me or a piece of cedar works well(if you use matches let the sulfur burn off first). The taste of the cigar changes slightly based on what you use.

Is wax soaked hemp better than butane? I thought butane produces only water and C02 after burning? Whatever, I still think it is kinda cool.

If you put a normal Bic lighter to the bottom of a glass cup it will leave a bunch of black soot that is unburned gases, if you do the same with hemp wick it is far less. Butane also burns at 3500 degrees which is much hotter than a match or the hemp wick, this causes you to torch a cigar or a pipe making the hits hot and harsh. It is not necessary but it does make it more enjoyable and healthy.

hes absolutely right. I use my roll of hemp wick daily, and you can absolutely notice the difference in taste and smoothness of the smoke.

Butane is C₄H₁₀. When burned in oxygen, the ONLY products are carbon dioxide and water.

The black soot left from burning, is either the by product of another gas in the air burning, or impurities of the butane that Bic puts in their lighters. In both situations, it's unfair to blame poor burning, and possibly flavor changes on the fuel source. Rather, it seems you all just need to try a different brand of lighter.

This still doesn't address the 3500 degrees that butane burns at, which is what causes harshness not the byproduct of burning impure butane. How is it unfair to blame a fuel source? I would urge you to try smoking a pipe of tobacco or other herbs with a butane lighter and then switch to a match/candle/hemp wick and you notice a difference in the taste, the control in the flame while lighting, and how much longer a pipe lasts due to not "torching" the herbs. The only thing I light with a butane lighter are cigarettes now because you cant make those things taste any better.

Eliminate the lighter completely, light the hemp wick with one of Grix's lasers. ;)

I would like to see if you could just light a cigarette or something with one, it would be cool using a laser to light up haha.

I would try lighting a hemp wick with one of those lasers. It would take a much braver man than me to stick a smoke in my mouth and trying to light it with the laser. ;)

Oh dude, these things work so well when your smoking a bowl of weed. All you can taste is just pure 100% unaltered chronic flavor...And its nice...the wicks last a good while to, if you use them properly.

If you hold the wick upside down, you can get a fucking massive flame.

If I light a cigar I sometimes double the wick up, or tie a small knot at the end to get a bigger flame.

Does mtgox checkout require 6 confirms?  I was expecting it to work like bitpay where it completes as soon as the unconfirmed transaction is seen on the network.

If you sent from your gox wallet, it should be instant, but if you send from a bitcoin address I would assume that they wait for 6 confirms. There isn't any way to adjust it in the gox prefs.

Trying to buy some right now.  Checkout thing is taking forever.

Looks like we are having some bad luck.  Only 4 confirmations on a transaction I sent 2 hours ago :(

EDIT: last 2 confirmations went through!

I scanned the QR code to pay and sent the transaction.  Then it said that there weren't enough funds, so I sent .2 BTC more just to make sure I wouldn't be short.  Now I just got a transaction back for guess how much? .2 BTC

But, I think I'm missing something.  So I sent my funds to the address Mt.Gox presented me and 6 confirms happened.  Now what.  It just says "The payment process is now complete. Your payment was successful."

Where do I put my shipping info? I could just PM it, but then how does the seller know that I'm the one who actually paid?

So far, I'm liking bitpay way more.

Yeah, the checkout presents a rather large issue of not being able to add a comment when you buy something to fill out your shipping info.
PM is the best way to do that I would guess, if you sign into MtGox you will be able to see the transaction #, that is really the only way it looks like it can be kept track of.

I'll PM.  I didn't use a MtGox account, but I can get the transaction # from my own client.  I should have just sent coins directly to the address in the OP.

I don't, I only have the transaction ID on mtgox which raises a few issues, just PM me with your address and I will have it mailed tomorrow.
I may get rid of the mtgox checkout for that reason alone, just an inconvenience to try and keep up with those transactions and the PM's from the forums.

Yeah I thought it would be an all in one wonder tool that I would hop on and see all the orders and the addresses right there.  :-\ I am sure it is an easy enough fix for them.

I folded up a couple note cards and cut them in the shape of an I and wrapped the wick around them so it won't get tangled.

With hemp wick, 1 lighter will last me a year.  And I am not sucking in butane.  And it makes it taste better.

You clearly are not a smoker.

I can understand that viewpoint, for a nonsmoker it is useless but if you enjoy smoking I would suggest trying a little bit and see how you like it.
