Title: SpreadCoin offers bounty for a GPU miner
Post by: Mr. Spread on November 13, 2014, 03:01:56 PM
SpreadCoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=715435.0) offers a bounty for a GPU miner. Make a GPU miner for SpreadCoin and get reward for it. I will test your miner on my Radeon R9 280X and pay you 10000 SPR per MH/s (e.g. for 1.2 MH/s you will get 12000 SPR). It must work on Windows and Linux and it must be released under open source license on github. All the necessary functionality (JSON RPC) to make an external miner will be soon uploaded on github. You can contact me if you need any guidance about mining algorithm or interaction between miner and wallet.

SpreadCoin is different from other proof-of-work coins because it has no pools, only solo mining is possible as described in my whitepaper (http://spreadcoin.net/files/SpreadCoin-WhitePaper.pdf). This is to prevent concentration of mining power in pools.

1. Each block is signed with the same key which is used in coinbase transaction and this signing must be performed in mining loop.
2. It is necessary to recompute whole block hash during mining.
These two things proof miner's knowledge of the whole block and ability to spend coinbase transaction. This prevents trustless pools because upon finding a block miner can broadcast it directly to the network and spend its reward.

Really surprised that with the rising value of this coin, no one seems to be interested in this...

GPU miners are available for both AMD and nVidia.
