I was just wondering, I click once in a while the Donate button to check out names.

Now I thought, wasn't BTC worth pizza a few years back? Donating 50 BTC to a forum now seems like giving a car and a house by the beach to a church as charity.

Here is the address, I looked back and the last transaction of 50 BTC was done back in 29/08/2011.

In 2011 I think the price was 1$ - 10$ / BTC ?

So the current donation price would be 50$ to 500$?

Nope, the standard donation rate for ranks have always been pegged to BTC, not USD. Donator rank is 10 BTC, and VIP 50 BTC.

So it's basically, only old members are the ones entitled to have VIP/Donator titles  ::)

I remember this being discussed to a finer detail when BTC first started to surge; theymos mentioned that it would be unfair for older donors if the requirement was arbitrarily lowered as a BTC back then is quintessentially the same as a BTC now. (forgoing the exchange rate of course)

theymos has at least considered new 'cheaper' ranks, though I can't imagine many people would donate for them if implemented. If they did I wonder if they'll be in the same situation again in a few years realising they've paid a ridiculous amount for a largely worthless title.

Why would you regret it? If you had enough money to donate 50 btc to a forum back then, you should be in hawaii right now with coconut juice in you hands.

Not necessarily. 50btc wasn't much back then and not everyone who donated kept a load of coins. Some maybe lost theirs in investments or scams etc. Some donators/VIPs who even still had a lot of coins wanted their money back and regret their decision to donate (goat comes to mind).

And Matthew. Speaking about the devil, is he and Goat on leave too?

I believe goat is actually banned, though he did have some sort of half-assed self-imposed exile before that I think.

Greed has no limits  ;D I wonder what are the people with lots of btc in their wallets still doing in these forums, or on the internet in general... For me, if I ever each the 4 digit number of btc in my mind, i'll never use my computer again..
