Title: Using avatars?
Post by: WoodCollector on November 16, 2014, 09:35:15 PM
Hi all,

Semi-new to the forum and just trying to figure things out. I went to go fill in all my profile info today and it says changing forum avatars is not possible at this time. I just wanted to know, is this something that has been disabled on the forum? something that i need to have "X" amount of posts before i can have? or how does it all work?

Thanks guys

It has been disabled for security reasons and it most likely will not be reinstated before the new forum is done.

Agreed, i use to host a very large SMF community forum for wood turning then when my brother the cyber security professional showed me how easy it was to hack on so many levels i just shut it down as i was not making any money from it and i didnt want anyone's info to get hacked.

This version is heavily modified to compensate for these issues. Theymos pays premium [1] for any flaws found.

Why the fuck do these security reasons not get fixed? Its been nearly two years now.

Enough money has been paid to board owner by advertisers and user donation.
Most likely there is also enough coding talent on board, to find a trusted user would do it for free.

The money is being used as a new forum is being developed and should be ready early next year so not much point trying to fix it now. Avatars really aren't a high enough priority to bother sorting out on this forum.
