What authority do you have that requires the legislative branch of a government to have to contact you prior to discussing bitcoin???
Title: Re: Australian senate Illegally holds Crypto inquirey without my approval Post by: cbeast on November 18, 2014, 07:55:54 AM They first called the Bitcoin CEO, but he was busy committing suicide. Then they called Satoshi Nakamoto, but he only answers the red phone in Commissioner Gordon's office. Then they called Captain Blockchain, but he was waiting on a long confirmation. They tried to call you but hung up because they heard a strange whine on the line.
Sorry, just having some beasty fun. Title: Re: Australian senate Illegally holds Crypto inquirey without my approval Post by: Elwar on November 18, 2014, 10:30:08 AM They didn't get my approval either. :-\

Australia is not doing very well with the whole crypto movement. I feel that it has got the same cancerous thoughts as the US. Europe seems to be the leading point so far. Cheers for sharing that. Title: Re: Australian senate Illegally holds Crypto inquirey without my approval Post by: glennmatthew on November 18, 2014, 09:01:40 PM how bout u do me a favor read these and tell me if their is anything interesting in them http://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Senate/Economics/Digital_currency/Submissions Done! I just read all of the submissions. There is not a single submission that is against bitcoin, infact, most support it. What is needed is more submissions and a greater input from the bitcoin community. Just to give this some background, the Senate enquiry came about after the Tax Office made a preliminary decision to impose a 10% tax on the purchase of bitcoin. The government though they "got it wrong" so they've launched a senate enquiry to properly explore and examine the use, adoption and taxation of bitcoin. Submissions are open for another week and a half. I'd encourage everyone to write a letter/submission, regardless if you're an Australian citizen or not. Ignoring governments won't make this any easier for the community as a whole - unlike Americans, we don't all openly hate our government. The government should get a job instead of taking free hand outs from its people. Bitcoin shouldn't be a tax exempt asset. CGT should apply, but not GST. This would make it no different to ASX shares or speculation in USD. Title: Re: Australian senate Illegally holds Crypto inquirey without my approval Post by: glennmatthew on November 19, 2014, 06:08:52 AM Inquiry is formal. Enquire is act of questioning. What happens in practice is probably more important: "In practice, however, enquire (and enquiry) is more common in British English while inquire (and inquiry) is more common in US English, but otherwise there is little discernible distinction in the way the words are used." It was actually good and very interesting if you are in Australia. I would at least recomend watching the 1st hour with Mark Pesce, he did speak well of bitcoin but he didnt know about paper wallerts and the talk on mining was funny, so probably wasn't the best choice that could have been made to discuss bitcoin to the senate. They get stuck on the tax laws for a long time but i guess thats what its about. Outcome to me sounded to me like the govenment wasnt adverse to bitcoin, just not well informed and until they get some speakers that know more then there always going to be confused. Lucas Cullen from bitcoin brisbane was probably the most informened speaker they had, a few more like him and the govenment might know more and can finally pass some decent rules on bitcoin tax laws so we dont pay tax twice. Edit: wow only seen the post above after i wrote this. Hey doof, well done, as i said we need more like you taking your time to stand up and speak for the community. Keep up the good work, i would send you a donation but when i heard you talk about your 3k investment im gussing you got more than my $5 worth. Did they back tax you on that? |
