Title: Tracking total Market Cap of all Cryptocurrencies Post by: TheTribesman on November 19, 2014, 01:56:35 PM In Jan 2014 http://coinmarketcap.com showed total market cap of all cryptocurrencies as >$8bn. It's now <$6bn. The site shows the total as a snapshot at the top of the page.
Is there a website out there that tracks and graphs this change over time, maybe for the top 50 or 100? I think it might be useful for creating a form of Cryptocurrency price index like the dow or ftse (if it's not already been done). Yeah definitely, I'm working on that (the graphs of total marketcap over time) Title: Re: Tracking total Market Cap of all Cryptocurrencies Post by: Febo on November 27, 2014, 02:10:36 PM 90% or even more marketcap of all crypto coins is Bitcoin. So whatever price Bitcoin will have that high will be total market cap of all cryptocoins.
You should check the one on October 2013 and see the difference towards January 2014. Maybe marketcaps just for clones, i.e. everything but BTC, and then match it against BTC marketcap for calculating the index.
