Title: If last year's ATH was manipulated, what's stopping them from doint it again now

I was thinking about this today, I must admit that I suspect that last year's 1200 USD was manipulated by some exchanges, but then if that's the case, what could be preventing them from manipulating the price again now?

So the ATH was caused by demand?

I read an article that accused the exchanges of manipulating the price a few weeks ago. Some people claimed the article was bullshit, but others agreed with it's claims. MtGox dominated the scene last Christmas, but now there are a number of big exchanges, so I imagine any manipulator would find it more difficult.

Exchanges can manipulate the prices to a new ATH whenever they want. We all know how MtGox manipulated the price to over $1200.

Nothing will stop them from doing so. I hope the next ATH will be one caused by genuine demand, and not one created by exchanges.
