I have setup a website and I want a way to earn bitcoins whenever someone visits it. I have heard of people getting something like this going before but they never go into detail over how they did it.

You can add in a faucet, sell advertisement for btc etc.. go to marketplace subforum.

The content of your website ? also you can put banners from companies casino etc

Try using google AdSense/AdWords. If you have enough visitors you will get some $, and you can then buy BTC.

I just got some coinurl generated ads on there, this seems like a nice and viable way of getting my content paid for in btc, however I understand that this isn't the only site that offers this type of service. Seeing that this is probably the way in which I would like to go with this I would like to know if there are any other services like it. And which ones pay more.

i suggest you open a faucet in your browser, a famous one, and check the banners there and see which ones they use.

There are many websites which offer you to earn free Bitcoins. With most of these sites, the concept is that you visit the site and just for looking at it you get a small amount of Bitcoins. The concept has something in common with watching good old free TV. You watch a lot of ads and inbetween you get something you actually want to see, like a film or music clips.

Apart from using Google Adsense, Coinurl, Adbit.co, a-ads.com, you could also try selling or auctioning adspaces in marketplace section.

I have posted some ads from coinurl on my website. I am using joomla as a CMS and the modules are custom html and the ads are view-able. How come I am not getting any money whenever somebody views them. I know people have been visiting because my hit counters have been increasing.

Google AdSense? After earning, exchange the profit into Bitcoin on Bitstamp etc.

Adsense is a good way to make money if your website have a decent amount of views everyday

Or you can search for another companies of banner like Exad or Yllyx

You can use coinurl and minergate(actually this is mining website, but you can do trick for earn bitcoin with your website), use traffic exchange too for double your earning.

You can get the Adsense approved and put picky flashy ads on your site but for users like me and many other adblocker bets it
but still you can earn some descent money if you constant visitors.

Most stuff suggested by now falls into annoyance category and will not really make you much money (a lot of people use AdBlockPlus thus they won't see ads on your website) so I suggest you to work on quality content and go with tipping tool like one linked below.

Posting BTC address won't give you BTCs. I have made a few useful scripts, small programs, that people are not even grateful and not even single of them paid anything to my donations address.

A lot of times people won't tip for software or code. If you write some compelling content that keeps them reading and entertained, youmay get tipped

I think you need a lot of traffic and users to make anything from donations. 1000users may give you 10donations.

Which kind of site do you own? A blog one, a tube-like site, a forum, ect.?
It also depends on your traffic sources... If you wanna earn with shortening-URLs Coinurl is the best option anyway.

It will be easy and effective but he will not get directly BTC so he needs to have an account in an exchange on buy on localbitcoins.

Three options which I can think of:
1) put up a compelling content and then have your btc donation address made available
2) set up some other advertising campaign like adsense pay per click or by using affiliates to earn some bucks from sales of products. Use that money to convert to btc
3) you could also approach some of the btc exchangers and offer to product the website link on yours. Get them to pay in btc

I do not think it will be possible to earn something with new website. Even stable websites with millions of users have problems with earnings. Nowadays there are millions of websites out there. You will be at better position, if website will be targeted to specific customer, then will be also more easy to make some earnings too.

Give me an example of a website with millions users and only few employees that is strugling??

Only way I know is put a donation button and hope for donation.

Nope, adfly pays only in 3 different ways: PayPal, Payza and Payoneer.

you should add a faucet to your site and add donation button. if there is other ways to earn btc from a website ill also like to know. about it.

You could set up ad spaces and put a donation address on your page.
If your site is to introduce or review services, you could also put your referral links.

Donation won't give you a lot of money as people today are stingy as hell even if they get something for free they want more  :-\
