Title: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: Stephen Gornick on May 17, 2011, 07:47:17 PM Hoping to know what those changes are though someday.
Anyone? Would also be nice to have a separate forum just for annoucements, as was suggested here: http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7609.0 Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: Nesetalis on May 17, 2011, 07:49:18 PM moving to a separate host so the incoming crash of reddit/slash/twitts/btards/whatever hammer the front page, not the forum :p
Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: JohnDoe on May 17, 2011, 09:14:20 PM New forum looks pretty ugly imo. There's no need for those <new> tags beside threads as you could already tell which had new replies by the bold titles. Also the new quotes are way uglier than before.
Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: Nesetalis on May 17, 2011, 09:15:19 PM you mean the default SMF theme that has been around for years?
Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: LMGTFY on May 17, 2011, 09:18:38 PM you mean the default SMF theme that has been around for years? Check out quotes, e.g. here (http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=8671.msg125967#msg125967) (or, indeed, directly above!) Might be the default SMF theme, but it's different to how it was before the recent changes.Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: JohnDoe on May 17, 2011, 09:21:30 PM I have a blocked script from 174.143.149.98. Anybody know what that is?
Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: Nesetalis on May 17, 2011, 09:25:49 PM its the forum script.
Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: nanotube on May 17, 2011, 10:32:29 PM looks fine, and forum's quite fast, too. ++ :)
Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: theymos on May 18, 2011, 01:11:29 AM I changed the theme back to the old one. The other one looked terrible.
If you preferred the other one, note that you can change your personal theme in your profile. Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: Stephen Gornick on May 18, 2011, 01:44:13 AM Advanced search appears to have been affected:
http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?action=search;advanced I select: Sort order -> Most recent topics first however the search results don't appear to be sorted chronologically. Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: JohnDoe on May 18, 2011, 02:02:12 AM Cool, everything looks back to normal.
Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: Ricochet on May 18, 2011, 02:36:34 AM There's no need for those <new> tags beside threads as you could already tell which had new replies by the bold titles. They're not just tags; they're links that take you to the newest post you haven't yet read. I find them insanely useful, and I'm very glad that this forum finally enabled the feature. We can quibble about the graphics, but it's the functionality that's important.EDIT: and of course as soon as I post that, they're gone. That's what I get for opening a tab and not reading it for over an hour. To the control panel I go! =D Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: theymos on May 18, 2011, 03:22:12 AM I re-enabled the "new" links. I've actually been wanting these links for a long time, but I never took the time to investigate how to enable them (since you need to edit a long, difficult-to-read file).
I wonder what happened to quick edit... Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: Ricochet on May 18, 2011, 04:52:06 PM I've only ever seen Quick Edit on vBulletin boards. If SMF has that feature then I've never seen it being used.
Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: error on May 18, 2011, 07:24:12 PM Quick Edit was here, but after yesterday's "maintenance" it seems to have disappeared.
Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: theymos on May 18, 2011, 08:52:38 PM For me, quick edit was not appearing because I had the script blocked (due to its new location).
Title: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to the forums Post by: error on May 18, 2011, 09:01:40 PM Ah, Quick edit is back. But the button graphics have gone missing again.
